This is a playlist of artists from the Kanto region.
I don’t think artists from the Greater Tokyo area are usually conscious of their birthplace, but there are cases where you assume a band is from Kansai, only to find out the members are actually from Kanto and came to Kansai for university.
There were also some surprising cases where people turned out to be from unexpected places.

Cherry BombKurosaka Yukako

Yukako Kurosaka, a Saitama native who transitioned from model to keyboardist, is lovingly known as “Yukarun” from the girls’ band SILENT SIREN.
She joined the band in 2012 and made her major debut that November.
The sparkling tones of her synth are indispensable to the band’s pop sound.
In 2015, less than three years after their debut, they performed at Nippon Budokan—the fastest milestone ever achieved by a girls’ band! Her dynamic, stage-roaming performances are also a major draw.

His 1975 classic album HORO—featuring members of Tin Pan Alley—remains an enduring masterpiece of Japanese R&B.
A major turning point came in 1976, when he shifted his focus to gospel music.
Although he did not receive specific awards, his warm, soulful voice made him a legendary figure revered by many musicians.

Haruna Kojima, known by the nicknames “Kojiharu” and “Nyan Nyan,” hails from Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture.
She began her career in 2005 as a first-generation member of AKB48 and helped define an era of J-pop idols.
After making her major debut in 2006 with Aitakatta, she was selected for 47 singles and served as center for songs themed around the electric guitar, consistently shining as the face of the group.
Since graduating from AKB48, she has been active as a model and actress, and in 2018 she launched the apparel brand Her lip to, showcasing her talents as an entrepreneur.
Her achievements extend beyond music, including winning the Fashion Talent Award at the WEIBO Account Festival in Japan 2019.
