This is a playlist of artists from the Kanto region.
I don’t think artists from the Greater Tokyo area are usually conscious of their birthplace, but there are cases where you assume a band is from Kansai, only to find out the members are actually from Kanto and came to Kansai for university.
There were also some surprising cases where people turned out to be from unexpected places.

Man Say Bienzettakun

After performing in a band, solo rapper/trackmaker Zettakun blossomed as a self-taught DTM producer.
Rooted in J-pop, his effortlessly genre-crossing sound—spanning Japanese rap, Japanese rock, and even Kawaii Future Bass—is irresistibly cool.
He made his indie debut in 2019, then broke into the major scene in 2020 with “Midnight Call feat.
kojikoji.” That same year, he also drew attention for writing lyrics for a Pocari Sweat commercial song.
A major turning point in his career was winning the Grand Prix at the 2018 audition “Newcomer Discovery.” His knack for weaving everyday empathy into distinctive lyrics, paired with catchy hooks that create an irresistibly pleasant groove, will have your body moving before you know it.
Highly recommended for listeners who love the smooth, feel-good bounce rooted in Black music.
LieShinji

Shinji, who is active as the guitarist and composer for the rock band SID, hails from Kawaguchi City in Saitama Prefecture.
While rooted in the visual-kei scene, his credo is unwaveringly “melody first.” His style, which brings out the very best in the vocals, has captivated many fans.
SID made their major debut in 2008 and quickly rose to fame with songs selected as themes for the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
In 2010, they solidified their standing as a band by successfully performing at their hometown venue, Saitama Super Arena.
Shinji also has a unique side—he reportedly samples hundreds of bowls of ramen each year—adding to his approachable charm.
He’s the perfect artist for those who love songful guitar work and unforgettable melodies.
Enigmatic FeelingRin to shite Shigure

Ling Tosite Sigure is a three-piece band formed in 2002 in Saitama Prefecture.
They are versatile, and in addition to their band activities, they actively pursue solo projects, provide songs to other artists, and join tours.
It feels like these efforts are steadily increasing their experience as a band.
bouquetback number

All three members of the band back number are from Gunma.
Iyori Shimizu is from Ota City in Gunma Prefecture, while Kazuya Kojima and Hisashi Kurihara are from Isesaki City.
Their songs have a relaxed vibe and focus on romance; listening to them makes people in relationships want to see their partner, and those who aren’t in one feel like finding a lover.
Spitz / Samenai (Never Waking Up)Sakiyama Tatsuo (Supittsu)

Tatsuo Sakiyama is a drummer born in 1967 in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, and a graduate of Tochigi Prefectural Sano High School.
Because his family ran a dressmaking shop, he also graduated from the Apparel Technology Department of the Fashion Engineering Program at Bunka Fashion College.
Introduced by guitarist Tetsuya Miwa, who was his classmate at the college, the four-piece rock band Spitz was formed.
Liberationkisiku o terafu

Kiwogiwau, a five-piece indie band based in Ibaraki Prefecture, has been drawing attention for their distinctive look—every member wears a gas mask—and their emotionally stirring sound.
While grounded in rock, they’ve established a unique style that fuses emotional melodies with a heavy sonic palette, characterized by introspective lyrics and powerful performances.
They deepen fan engagement through streaming platforms like YouTube and TwitCasting, and the vocalist-guitarist, Kijitora, holds regular acoustic streaming sessions that offer a valuable chance to connect more closely with fans.
Highly recommended for those interested in a visual identity that captivates both sight and sound—centered on gas masks—and richly expressive songwriting.
DreamTKda kurobuchi

When it comes to distinctive rappers from Kasukabe City in Saitama Prefecture, TKda Kurobuchi is the name to know! He once worked as a company employee, but pursued his dream of music and switched careers to become a rapper.
In works like his 2015 album “LIFE IS ONE TIME, TODAY IS A GOOD DAY,” he paints a worldview that reflects his own life.
What truly put his name on the map was his performance in MC battles.
He claimed numerous titles, including winning the 2012 Sengoku MC BATTLE, proving his skill.
His rapid-fire delivery, unleashed like a bullet, and his technical style packed with relentless rhymes are absolutely stunning.
The power of his words—transforming life’s struggles into strength—will resonate not only with fans of hard-hitting hip-hop, but also with anyone seeking the courage to take on a challenge.
