This is a playlist of artists from the Kanto region.
I don’t think artists from the Greater Tokyo area are usually conscious of their birthplace, but there are cases where you assume a band is from Kansai, only to find out the members are actually from Kanto and came to Kansai for university.
There were also some surprising cases where people turned out to be from unexpected places.

Bands, artists, and singers from the Kanto region (11–20)
I LOVE YOUOzaki Yutaka

Yutaka Ozaki, the charismatic icon Saitama is proud of, who kept crying out in rebellion against society and adults.
Rooted in rock and folk, his music seems to speak for the inner turmoil of young people.
He debuted in 1983 with the single “15 no Yoru” (The Night of Fifteen) and the classic album “Jūnanasai no Chizu” (Seventeen’s Map).
His signature songs about breaking free from school and societal norms won fervent support from the youth of the time and even became a social phenomenon.
This debut album was highly acclaimed for its vivid portrayal of young people’s true feelings.
Though he passed away suddenly in April 1992 at the age of 26, his passionate voice and soulful cries still shine as an undying message that never fades.
For those who feel suffocated by everyday life, his straightforward words will surely strike a deep chord.
Brother BeatIwamoto Hikaru

Hikaru Iwamoto, affectionately known as “Hii-kun,” is the leader of Snow Man and hails from Saitama Prefecture.
He began dancing at the age of six, was inspired by Michael Jackson, and is musically distinguished by powerful rap and a rich, low vocal tone.
After a long period of groundwork, he made his CD debut in January 2020 with “D.D./Imitation Rain.” He has helped drive the group’s hits, such as “Brother Beat,” which was the theme song for the film Osomatsu-san.
As a member of Snow Man, he’s a proven performer, having won Artist of the Year at the 36th Japan Gold Disc Awards.
His creative side shines in choreographing the group’s songs, and fans are captivated by the contrast between his sculpted physique with 5% body fat and his dislike of haunted houses.
He’s an artist recommended for anyone who wants to experience powerful performances and multifaceted talent.

Haruka Shimazaki, a native of Saitama Prefecture, is also known for taking the world by storm with the term “shio taiō” (cold or curt attitude).
She debuted in 2009 as a 9th-generation member of AKB48, beginning her career in the world of J-pop.
Her turning point was likely her dramatic victory at the rock-paper-scissors tournament held in September 2012.
The song for which she seized the center position brought her widespread recognition.
Her unique, laid-back personality set her apart from other members, and the roots of her distinctive charm lie in her music activities.
Now expanding her horizons as an actress, many people are surely captivated by the way she continues to express herself without being confined to any mold.
THIS IS ME:IIshii Ran

Ran Ishii is a Saitama-born performer who began studying dance in childhood and has drawn attention with her outstanding performances.
Since 2019, she has been active as a member of the girls’ performance unit Girls², and is also known for appearing in the TV drama Secret × Warrior Phantomirage!.
She later took on the audition program PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS, where she secured debut with a final ranking of 9th.
In April 2024, she took a new step as a member of the girl group ME:I with the single MIRAI.
Her sharp dancing—centered on her strength in popping—and stable vocal ability powerfully support the group’s performances.
Many are likely drawn to her dazzling presence on stage and strong sense of responsibility, as she also serves as sub-leader.
The wind is blowing.ikimonogakari

All the members are from Kanagawa Prefecture.
Before their major debut, they were mainly active around Ebina and Atsugi.
Currently, songs by Ikimono-gakari are used as the departure melodies at their respective stations.
At Ebina Station, “SAKURA” is used, and at Moto-Atsugi Station, “YELL” is used.
Rain, then Sunshine Hallelujahyuzu

When it comes to musicians from Kanagawa Prefecture, Yuzu likely comes to mind as well.
They are from Isogo Ward in Yokohama.
They’re famous for having performed street concerts for a long time in front of the Yokohama Matsuzakaya that used to be on Isezakicho.
When they appeared on the Kōhaku music show, a live broadcast showed them performing right there in front of it.

Flowers of EvilBUCK-TICK

All the members of the rock band BUCK-TICK are from Gunma.
Atsushi Sakurai, Hisashi Imai, and Hidehiko Hoshino are from Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture, while Yutaka Higuchi and Toll Yagami are from Takasaki City.
Their musical style feels like classic, high-energy, hard-driving rock.
