You’ve probably often seen Ayataka’s commercials on TV, with the catchphrase “Like it was brewed in a teapot.” In addition to popular celebrities, Ayataka’s ads feature a variety of people, such as Kyoto kaiseki chefs knowledgeable about tea and maiko.

The series featuring popular actresses and artists is especially memorable.

In this article, we’ll introduce not only the latest commercials but also past Ayataka ads.

They’re all commercials that convey a commitment to the craft of tea-making, so please enjoy!

Coca-Cola Ayataka Special Selection Tea “Ayataka with Tokuho (FOSHU)” VersionKoichi Sato

Koichi Sato enjoys green tea while gazing at a garden — New commercial for Ayataka Tokusen-cha: “Ayataka Tokusen-cha: Tokuhō Learned from the Kyusu”

This is the commercial for the special tea that targets fat and sugar, the “Tokuho no Ayataka” version, featuring actor Koichi Sato.

In a serene atmosphere in a Japanese-style room with a great view—like a pavilion—Sato drinks tea.

While Tokuho beverages tend to have a reputation for inferior taste, this one is delicious—truly worthy of praise—succinctly expressed by Sato’s single word, “Splendid.”

Coca-Cola Ayataka Tea Leaf Sweetness: “Feel the Sweetness” VersionRiho Yoshioka

[CM] Ayataka: Sweetness of the Tea Leaves

Focusing not on the bitterness or astringency of tea but on its sweetness, this is the commercial for Ayataka “The Sweetness of Tea Leaves.” Riho Yoshioka appears as a clerk at a tea shop with a counter, pouring tea from a kyusu teapot.

And the accent is something you can’t overlook.

The intonation of her lines, which makes use of her native Kyoto dialect, somehow lends an air of refinement.

It’s a commercial that lets you savor the special feeling of taking a moment’s break at a bright, elegant Kyoto tea shop—one that makes you sit up a little straighter.

Coca-Cola Ayataka: “I am Ayataka. Delicious even when warm.” (version)Riho Yoshioka, Klam Onda

Ayataka Riho Yoshioka TV commercial: “I’m Ayataka – Delicious Even Warm” version, 15 seconds (AYATAKA TVCF)

When it comes to bottled tea—especially green tea—we tend to think of it as a cold drink.

In Ayataka’s commercial “I am Ayataka.

Delicious even when warm,” snow falls thick and quiet in midwinter as someone enjoys a warm cup of tea at home—a spot that warms both the heart and the belly just by watching.

Riho Yoshioka says, “You can really tell how good green tea is when it’s warm,” and hearing that makes you want to try it! It’s a curiosity-sparking ad.

The narration that says “Ayataka is chosen for its taste” also feels believable.

Coca-Cola Ayataka: “I’m Ayataka. I make meals more delicious.” (Commercial)Riho Yoshioka, Klam Onda

Riho Yoshioka takes a bite of an onigiri with green tea—her cute expression steals the spotlight! New Ayataka commercial: “I am Ayataka. Making meals more delicious.”

In this commercial, Riho Yoshioka takes a big bite of an onigiri, and for a moment you might think it’s an onigiri ad.

But it’s actually a proper green tea commercial: Ayataka’s “I am Ayataka.

Enhancing your meals” edition.

When it comes to drinks that pair with onigiri, of course tea is the go-to.

Tea is often considered a supporting player, but there are studies showing that the deliciousness of the food changes depending on how good the tea is.

With that in mind, you can’t just think any tea will do.

It’s also an adorable spot where Riho Yoshioka serenely savors each sip.

Coca-Cola Ayataka: ‘Only Ayataka with Tokuho’ VersionRiho Yoshioka, Kentaro Kokado

Rihoko Yoshioka turns into a little person! To Lotti’s Kokado: “That’s right!” New TV commercial: Ayataka Tokusencha ‘Only Ayataka Tokuhō’ Edition

This time, it’s a commercial for Ayataka Tokuho, which is effective for fat.

Because it’s a Tokuho product, instead of showcasing traditional Japanese scenery and culture that feels classically “Ayataka,” the ad comes across as more down-to-earth and rooted in everyday life.

The image character is Kentaro Kokado from the comedy duo Lotti.

It’s impressive that they’ve shifted from actors with a somewhat noble image, like Mansai Nomura, to a comedian who feels more approachable.

The interaction with Riho Yoshioka, who appears in kimono at PET-bottle size, is also amusing.

Coca-Cola Ayataka “Kyusu Meeting” VersionHidetoshi Uebayashi, Koki Mitani

Coca-Cola Ayataka “Teapot Meeting” Koki Mitani

A collaboration commercial between the 2013 film “The Kiyosu Conference” and Ayataka.

It features the head of Kanbayashi Harumatsu, who supervises Ayataka, and Koki Mitani, the director of The Kiyosu Conference.

They say it conveys the taste of “green tea as if brewed in a kyusu (teapot),” and they’re making a pun on kyusu (teapot) and Kiyosu—haha.

The way they force the connection is pretty pushy, but that’s part of the charm!

Coca-Cola Ayataka “Traveler’s Encounter”Hiroyuki Sanada, Vicky Palmer

Ayataka “Traveler’s Encounter” Hiroyuki Sanada

This is Ayataka’s commercial titled “The Traveler’s Encounter.” Hiroyuki Sanada sits on stone steps with British actress Vicky Palmer, drinking Ayataka.

When Sanada says, “Authenticity has cloudiness,” Vicky tries to repeat it but mispronounces nigori (cloudiness) as nikori, and they go back and forth.

Nikori is not only a mispronunciation of nigori, but also a double meaning, since nikori can mean a smile.
