Sunny Day SundaySenchimentaru Basu

Listening to Sentimental Bus’s “Sunny Day Sunday” instantly brings to mind scenes from high school baseball—it’s such a classic cheer song! The lyrics are dotted with baseball-evoking phrases like “day game” and “kyūji” (ballplayers), and I’ve heard the working title was “Baseball Punk.” It’s a track that makes you feel like you’re witnessing a fierce battle under the blazing sun.
A fresh, coming-of-age punk song that perfectly suits the players striving for new heights on the dream stage of Koshien!
Passion ContinentHakasé Tarō

This is a piece composed by Taro Hakase as the opening theme for a documentary program of the same name.
It’s believed that Kounan High School’s player Tairiku Kuniyoshi boosted the song’s popularity, and it is sometimes referred to as “Kuniyoshi Tairiku.” Whenever Kuniyoshi reached base, people would reportedly shout, “Successful landing!”
Boom!Magokoro Burazāzu

Who could have predicted that a song by THE Magokoro Brothers, released in 1990, would become this beloved at Koshien? Lately it’s even been featured in TV commercials—the song “Dokaan.” It practically feels like it was made for cheering at Koshien, with its plea, “Come on, smack a hit right here!!” The upbeat rhythm makes you want to clap along and shout your support.
You often hear it in the cheering section for Nihon University Third High School, a regular at Koshien.
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-DaThe Beatles

It’s a song included on The Beatles’ 1968 album “The Beatles” (commonly known as the White Album).
There can’t be many people who don’t know it.
In recent years, many may have heard Youssou N’Dour’s version used in a Honda Stepwgn commercial.
Don’t give upZARD

When it comes to cheer songs, this track is absolutely indispensable! It came out before today’s high schoolers were even born, yet you still hear it all the time as a classic, so I’m sure many high school students know it.
Izumi Sakai’s gentle, refreshing vocals paired with the breezy, rock-tinged sound will surely soothe you if you listen during a break.
Released in January 1993, this song became ZARD’s first million-selling smash hit.
It was also used as the entrance theme for the 1994 Summer Koshien tournament, making it very popular as a baseball cheer song as well.
I recommend listening to it when you’re facing difficulties or need courage before an important match.
OKOoochie Koochie

A track that exquisitely fuses 1970s disco sounds with modern arrangements, also known as an official fight song for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp.
It’s the signature work of a unit formed in 2025 by two Hiroshima-born heavyweights of the music scene, Tamio Okuda and Koji Kikkawa, who launched the project in their milestone sixtieth year as a tribute to their hometown.
The lyrics, which encourage listeners to keep moving forward with a reassuring “It’s going to be okay” even in tough times, have resonated widely, and the energetic melody naturally gets people dancing.
Released in April 2025, the song brought the house down at Mazda Stadium when it premiered during the opening ceremony of that year’s professional baseball season.
It’s especially recommended for baseball fans looking to shake off pre-game nerves, as well as for anyone seeking encouragement during challenging times.
Pretty FlyThe Offspring

This is a chance theme that became famous during the 88th Selected High School Baseball Tournament.
The original song is The Offspring’s “Pretty Fly,” known for its mondegreen mishearings, and it takes on a different kind of cool when arranged for brass band.
The song itself is so strikingly cool that, at the time, Yukiko Umezu reportedly went all the way to the opposite stand to confirm the song’s title.
