Chatmonchy’s iconic and popular songs

I’ve put together a collection of songs by Chatmonchy, one of Japan’s leading all-girl bands.

For me, born in 1993, when I think of girl bands, it’s definitely Chatmonchy.

They had been active as a trio since their formation, but in 2011, drummer Kumikon (Kumiko Takahashi) left the band.

Since then, the group has continued with vocalist/guitarist Ecchan (Eriko Hashimoto) and bassist Akko-chan (Akiko Fukuoka), performing with support members.

By the way, after leaving, Kumikon has been working as a writer, which she had been doing for some time, creating works that use paintings and poetry to turn entire spaces into art—this is her guiding concept.

She also wrote lyrics for many of their songs, so be sure to check them out in this playlist.

Now that Ms.

Takahashi has left Chatmonchy and is active as a lyricist and in other roles, the lyrics she wrote for this song capture the feelings of “graduation” very well through a worldview born from distinctive vocabulary.

It’s interesting that the term “Pavlov’s dog” appears.

It’s said to be based on notes they wrote about what they wanted to say when confessing to someone they liked in their senior year of high school.

What an adorable story.

It’s also fun to catch glimpses of their songwriting sense as an “artist” that goes beyond the typical high schooler.

It’s a timeless song that tugs at the heart.

The lyrics, penned by Eriko Hashimoto during her high school years, capture the delicate emotions of a young person unsure of which path to take.

Released in September 2007, it was also featured as an ending theme for the TV Tokyo anime BLEACH.

Included on the album “Seimeiryoku,” the track won the hearts of many listeners.

The line “Please don’t go any farther” is filled with a universally relatable mix of anxiety and hope.

If you’re troubled by love or uncertain about your future, why not listen to this song and face yourself? It’s sure to give you the courage to take a new step forward.

I thought it might be the perfect song for someone who’s just moved to Tokyo.

I’ve never even considered moving to Tokyo myself, so I didn’t really understand it before, but I felt like I was able to grasp the kind of feelings people have when they do.

It’s a song I think everyone should listen to at least once.

I started listening with excitement after first hearing, “Keep what I’m about to say a secret.” There’s a line in the lyrics that says, “I want to remember the goal that’s only visible the moment you start.” I really related to that lyric and loved it.

I’ve listened to a lot of songs up to now, but I felt that this is the only one that’s given me such a mysterious feeling.

Once you hear it, you can’t forget it.

The powerful band performance and the cute, beautiful singing voice blend together nicely and feel so pleasant.

It was a song I wanted people in love to listen to.

I think each line of the lyrics really hits home and lets you feel what’s so great about Chatmonchy.

The lyrics had a strong impact.

Try humming along to them.
