Chatmonchy’s iconic and popular songs
I’ve put together a collection of songs by Chatmonchy, one of Japan’s leading all-girl bands.
For me, born in 1993, when I think of girl bands, it’s definitely Chatmonchy.
They had been active as a trio since their formation, but in 2011, drummer Kumikon (Kumiko Takahashi) left the band.
Since then, the group has continued with vocalist/guitarist Ecchan (Eriko Hashimoto) and bassist Akko-chan (Akiko Fukuoka), performing with support members.
By the way, after leaving, Kumikon has been working as a writer, which she had been doing for some time, creating works that use paintings and poetry to turn entire spaces into art—this is her guiding concept.
She also wrote lyrics for many of their songs, so be sure to check them out in this playlist.

Chatmonchy’s famous and popular songs (51–60)
Howl at the full moonChatto Monchī

It became the theme song for the drama “Delusional Investigation? The Stylish Life of Associate Professor Koichi Kuwagata.” As Chatmonchy’s “two-member lineup,” it’s an energetic, pop number that you’d never guess was produced without a bassist.
Good luck my sister!!Chatto Monchī

It’s a lovely, happy, and warm song that you’ll want to sing for the person you’re going to marry.
The feeling of almost crying from happiness is portrayed in a very joyful way, and it makes you feel gentle whether you’re singing it or listening to it.
It’s catchy and easy to add tambourine or handclaps to, so it’s perfect for karaoke.
Little SparklesChatmonchy

From the sparkling feel of the intro to the wistful lyrics and melody of the chorus, it’s a song that’s both adorable and heartrending.
I love Chatmonchy’s sensibility in calling the small yet undeniably real feelings of love within oneself a little sparkle.
Butterfly of the flying fishChatto Monchī

This is a song that captures the feeling of a flying fish.
The lyrics are cute and the vocals are gentle, so listening to it makes you feel calm.
Since it’s a sea-themed song, it’s perfect for a drive to the ocean or a barbecue.
It’ll make you feel like you want to swim alongside a flying fish.

Make Up! Make Up!Chatmonchy

As the title suggests, it’s a positive, girly track about transforming an unlikeable version of yourself through makeup.
The lyrics give a clever twist to makeup-related words like blush, piercings, and eyeliner, and their cute sensibility is sure to make you smile.
I Laugh YouChatto Monchī

Chatmonchy, a popular band that has had a huge influence on today’s girl bands, continued to make its presence felt from their debut until their breakup.
They’re the ultimate band, packed with the essential elements a girls’ band needs—cute and cool.
Lady NavigationChatto Monchī

Chatmonchy is a rock band that, with their cute yet undeniably skilled performances and songwriting, had a major impact on the girls’ band scene in J-pop.
“Lady Navigation,” a track from their major-label fourth album YOU MORE—the last release featuring drummer Kumiko Takahashi—hooks you right from the intro, which at first listen even sounds like it’s in an odd time signature.
The beat, switching deftly between delicacy and dynamism, gives the song a sense of contour and drama.
It’s a rock tune with drum work that closely supports the ensemble—so memorable you’ll want to play it over and over.
