There are so many opportunities to put on performances at nursery schools and kindergartens, aren’t there?

In addition to monthly birthday parties, there are seasonal events and activities, so many teachers may be racking their brains, thinking, “What should we do this time?” and running out of ideas.

So this time, we’re introducing performance ideas recommended for childcare workers that are perfect for events.

We’ve gathered lots of fun and unique acts that won’t disappoint the children who are looking forward to them.

It’s also a great idea to add your own twists to suit the season or occasion!

Be sure to make use of these ideas and enjoy a wonderful time together with the children.

For Birthday Parties and Seasonal Events! Fun Performances for Preschool Teachers (21–30)

air cannon

Air Cannon / Studying an Air Vortex Cannon
air cannon

Let’s turn a science experiment into a performance! Denjirou Yonemura, known for his science shows, often performs with an air cannon.

All you need is a cardboard box with a hole in it.

When you push the box firmly, a lump of air is launched from the hole.

If you fill it with smoke first, the movement of the air becomes easier to see, and that alone makes for a great act! You could even set up lightweight targets that topple with a small gust and present it like a magic trick.

With the right ideas, it can transform into anything!

line dance

Line dances, with everyone in a row moving in sync, are irresistibly catchy.

The regular, coordinated movements are sure to captivate the children.

How about trying the dance to nursery rhymes or popular anime theme songs? If you match simple costumes, it will look much more authentic and neat.

Adding small props like colored paper, panels, or handkerchiefs to incorporate elements of a mass performance will make it more dazzling and keep the children glued to the show!

Sushi Picnic

Sushi Picnic

Among the popular songs from NHK’s preschool program “Okaasan to Issho” is “Osushi no Picnic.” It features various kinds of sushi—everyone’s favorite, kids and adults alike—and has an adorable melody that children love.

How about trying a dance to this song? Just having the teachers appear dressed as sushi would probably delight the kids! Although making the sushi costumes and props might be a bit of work, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleasing performance.

balloon art

May Birthday Party Balloon Art

Balloon art made by bending inflated balloons can make you nervous to watch, wondering if they’ll pop—but with practice, you’ll find that doesn’t happen as often as you think.

If you can quickly craft something complex, kids will be delighted.

In fact, it might be fun to try making them together with the kids! Just twisting without popping is enjoyable in itself.

Once you learn the basics, it’s an easy crowd-pleaser to show off at birthday parties and events—a classic bit of entertainment.

Fingerplay song from a gachapon (capsule toy)

[Free Download] The Handy Gacha Theater is so convenient and adorable! [Whiteboard Theater]
Fingerplay song from a gachapon (capsule toy)

Gachapon machines that kids love.

This idea recreates a gachapon on a whiteboard, with hand-play activities written inside.

You can easily make it using small whiteboards from a 100-yen shop.

For the gachapon capsules, prepare pieces that have a capsule design on the front and the hand-play activity written on the back, and insert double-sided magnets in between.

Rather than just doing hand-play songs as usual, the act of “doing gachapon” and the excitement of wondering what will come out should make it extra fun and engaging.
