Simple magic tricks with everyday/household items (11–20)
Toothpick jumping magic

Here’s a magic trick that makes it look as if a toothpick moves on its own by telekinesis.
All you need are two toothpicks, so it’s easy to try at a meal, over drinks, or at home—and the casual vibe really adds to the charm.
The method is simply to apply pressure to the toothpick you’re holding and move it little by little, but because the spectators’ attention is drawn to the other toothpick, they won’t notice that you’re actually moving it.
It’s easy, so give it a try!
Tissue Vanishing Magic

This is a magic trick where a tissue held in your hand disappears in an instant, and all you need is a single tissue—so it’s easy to try! First, place the tissue between the thumb and index finger of your left hand, then use your right hand to roll the tissue into a ball in your left palm.
Tear off the part sticking out of your left hand, say a magic word, and… the balled-up tissue vanishes.
The secret is that before rolling it up, you’ve already torn the tissue with your left hand, and when you roll it with your right hand, you secretly switch the tissue to your right hand.
It might be a bit tricky to do without the audience noticing, but it’s simple and worth trying!
A magical picture book whose contents disappear

Do you know what a magic book is? A magic book is a type of magic item that looks like an ordinary picture book at first glance.
However, because the lengths of the pages vary, simply changing where you hold it while flipping through makes it appear either blank or as if it has illustrations.
There are many different kinds available, so why not look for one you like? There are also cute designs on sale, such as ones featuring Disney characters.
Magic that changes the color of water in an instant

It’s a magic trick where the water inside a plastic bottle changes color when you shake it.
The method is pretty easy to guess, so it might feel a bit underwhelming as a trick for adults.
But it’s simple, there’s no risk of failing, and it’s great for delighting kids like in the video, so I recommend it if that’s your goal.
pierced plastic bottle

This is a penetration magic trick using a plastic bottle! You’ll need a plastic bottle with a label, a utility knife to make a hole, and tape glue to reattach the label.
For the prep, first peel back the label.
Then, at a spot that will be just barely covered by the label, cut a hole large enough for the bottle cap to easily fit through.
Since you’ll be using a knife here, make sure to do this with an adult.
After making the hole, stick the label back on.
If the adhesive has weakened, use tape glue to help it stick.
That’s all the prep! Now you can strike the cap forcefully against the hole you made, making it look as if it passed through and went inside!

A magic trick where you guess the number someone rolled on a die!

Here’s a magic trick using dice.
Prepare three dice and have someone roll all of them once.
Ask them to remember the total of the numbers shown.
Next, flip two of the dice to their opposite faces and add the new numbers to the original total.
Then hide one of the flipped dice, roll the remaining dice again, and have them remember the new total after adding the numbers shown.
The magician will guess this final number.
The method is simple: just add 14 to the sum of the numbers showing on the two dice that aren’t hidden.
A simple number-guessing magic trick you can do with a 3×3 grid!

This is a prediction magic trick where anyone can easily guess the final number.
The trick uses a whiteboard with a 3×3 grid numbered 1–8 and some magnets.
First, have a spectator choose any number.
From that number, move clockwise the number of spaces indicated by the number you landed on.
For example, if the first choice is 6, move 6 spaces; if the next number you land on is 4, move 4 spaces, and so on.
After repeating this three times, you will always end up on 8.
So you place a paper with the number 8 stuck to the back of the whiteboard and reveal that it was “predicted” from the start.
The secret is very simple: just place the even numbers—2, 4, 6, and 8—in specific positions!
