Oni mask made with decalcomania

Enjoy decalcomania! Here’s a recommended oni (demon) mask craft for 4-year-olds.

First, fold a sheet of construction paper in half.

Open it and place about three colors of paint on one side.

Fold it again to transfer the paint, and once it’s dry, cut it into the shape of an oni.

Punch holes where the eyes will be, and make horns by rolling colored paper into cones.

Be sure to draw patterns on the paper before rolling it.

Attach yarn for the hair, and draw the face with crayons or similar materials.

Finally, make a headband from construction paper to fit the child’s head size, attach it to the mask, and you’re done!

The opening-and-closing mouth is so cute! Here’s a recommended craft for 4-year-olds that you can make with colored paper cups.

First, make the head using a colored paper cup.

Make two vertical slits on opposite sides.

Open it up, cut off the top part of the head, and make a small slit a little above the center to form the jaw.

Next, use the leftover paper to make the arms and legs.

Apply wood glue to the jaw area to attach and form the body.

Use origami paper to make the ogre’s pants.

Decorate the ogre’s face and horns, and it’s done! It’s also fun to draw any face you like for the ogre.

Then, before the glue dries, simply place the pom-poms on top.

Using pom-poms gives the piece a fluffy, wintery look.

If you stick on small, crumpled pieces of tissue paper, it will look like a bouquet, and sprinkling glitter will give it a sparkly, stylish finish.

It also sounds fun to combine multiple materials!

♪ Original Song – Rin Mama: Enjoy with your child through parent-child handmade crafts – Rin Mama: Preserve baby memories cutely with 100-yen store DIY

Fun to make and display! Here’s how to create a heart ornament perfect for 4-year-olds.

First, cut tissue paper into 3 cm × 3 cm squares, and shape air-dry clay into a heart.

Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter helps make a clean shape and is recommended.

Press down from above with a clear case or similar to neaten the edges, and the base is done.

Next, use a pointed stick to press the tissue paper into the heart, filling it in.

It’s cute as is, but if you make a hole at the top of the heart and let the clay dry, you can thread a string or pipe cleaner through to turn it into an ornament.

Give it a try!

Ehomaki made of paper

Setsubun Craft: “Make It with Paper! Ehomaki♪”
Ehomaki made of paper

When it comes to sushi rolls eaten on Setsubun, we think of Ehomaki.

Let’s all make Ehomaki together and enjoy the Setsubun atmosphere.

For the fillings, use four colors of origami cut in half, and for the rice, use two sheets of kitchen paper.

Roll each of the four colored origami pieces into long, thin sticks, wrap them with two sheets of kitchen paper, and finally wrap the whole thing with black cardstock as the seaweed.

Your Ehomaki is complete! The action of rolling the “seaweed” is fun because it feels like making real sushi rolls.

For 4-year-olds, it could be fun to let them choose their own filling colors to create original Ehomaki, and then pretend to eat them while facing that year’s lucky direction (Eho).

Valentine’s Jack-in-the-Box

Let's make a Valentine's surprise box! #crafts #ValentinesDay #childcare #eco #Shorts
Valentine's Jack-in-the-Box

For a Valentine’s craft, how about a jack-in-the-box that bursts open with messages like “I love you” and “Thank you”? Slice a milk carton into 6 cm rings, then attach cut-out construction paper in the shape of your favorite animals or characters, along with your messages.

Make small cuts along the fold lines of each piece and hook rubber bands into the slits.

Fold the pieces while stretching the rubber bands and stack them.

Finally, pack them into a box made from a milk carton and tape the lid closed to finish your surprise box.

The contents pop out with more force than you’d expect, guaranteed to get kids excited! It’s also perfect for birthday parties and other celebratory events.
