Snow fairy! Adorable long-tailed tit (Shima-enaga)

Why not try making the popular long-tailed tit as a “snow fairy” with origami? All you need is a single sheet of your favorite origami paper and a black pen, so preparation is super easy.
Fold by creasing and flipping the paper as you go: use the white front side to represent the body and the colored back side for the wings.
Finish by drawing the eyes and beak with a black pen to enjoy different expressions.
With few steps, it’s easy even for a 3-year-old, so it’s highly recommended.
After it’s done, you can show them to each other or line them up on the wall to create a cute atmosphere.
A toilet paper roll core transforms into a fearsome oni!
Let’s make a warm and charming oni (ogre) using a toilet paper roll and felt.
First, wrap the toilet paper roll with felt and glue it in place.
Then use faux fur as hair, and attach facial parts and horns made from felt.
Using pearls for the eyes and cheeks will boost the cuteness and add a festive touch.
The key to this idea is layering yellow and brown felt, twisting them to create the pants.
It would also look cute if you use non-traditional colors.

How about enjoying a bowling game made from plastic bottles with an ogre (oni) motif? First, stuff red tissue paper into the plastic bottles.
Next, draw a tiger stripe pattern with a black pen on yellow origami paper, and wrap it around the bottle using double-sided tape.
Make horns from triangular origami, use round stickers for the eyes, black origami for the eyebrows, and red origami for the mouth to create the ogre’s face, attaching each piece with double-sided tape.
Finally, crumple newspaper into a ball and wrap it with yellow vinyl tape to make the bowling ball, and your bowling set is complete!
Make and play! Setsubun crafts

After you make it, you can enjoy bean-throwing too! Here are some oni craft ideas.
First, prepare an envelope in your preferred size and cut it in half.
Please use a gusseted envelope.
Attach small pieces of cut paper along the cut edge to represent the oni’s hair, then stick on the horns and face parts made from construction paper.
Finally, draw the eyebrows and mouth with a pen to complete the oni! Mount the oni on the wall and throw “beans” made by crumpling paper at it.
After the bean-throwing is over, try a challenge to see how many beans you can put into the envelope!
a one-horned ogre
Recommended for Setsubun crafts! Let’s make an oni (demon) face with origami.
First, fold the paper into a triangle to make a crease.
Open it back up, then fold the two left edges in to meet the crease.
Once you’ve done that, rotate the paper so the folded left side is at the bottom, and flip it over.
Next, fold the top corner down about 2 cm, then fold it back up so the tip aligns with the base of the triangle you just made.
This will be the oni’s hair.
Flip the paper over again, fold the bottom corner up to create the horns on the head.
Then fold the left and right corners inward so they line up with the sides of the part you folded up, and fold the bottom corner as well to shape the face.
Your oni is complete!
For Setsubun! Oni (demon) bean holder
Here’s how to make an ogre bean holder.
First, fold the origami paper into a triangle twice.
Then unfold it once, and fold up the left and right corners to make a tulip shape.
From here, we’ll make the ogre’s horns.
Unfold the parts you just folded up, then make the diagonal creases into mountain folds and the straight creases into valley folds, and collapse along the creases.
The collapsed part should become a diamond shape; fold the top two edges inward along the valley creases to make it narrower.
Do the same on the other side to complete the horns.
Next, take the top corner of the remaining triangle, fold both layers downward together, and tuck the back layer inside the origami.
Fold the front layer back up to represent the ogre’s hair.
Finally, fold the bottom corner up into a triangle and draw the face to finish.
When using it, gently open it so that the part you folded last becomes the bottom!

The hearts pop out! Let me introduce a three-dimensional origami piece.
It may look difficult to make, but once you score the folds, all that’s left is to collapse it—so kids can try it too! Once your origami paper is ready, fold it in half both ways to make a square and create a cross-shaped crease.
Open the paper back up, then bring the bottom edge up to the center crease and press only the middle with your finger to make a small crease.
Next, align the bottom edge with this new crease and make another small crease the same way.
Repeat this process on the top edge as well.
From here, we’ll move on to collapsing: first, fold the top and bottom edges along the outermost creases.
Don’t fold the entire length—press only at the center—and then fold the paper in half so the creases line up.
At this point, you should see hearts on both sides.
Next, rotate and fold it in half so the hearts sit side by side.
Glue them together so they don’t come apart, and you’re done!
