Karaoke songs that make it easy for women to score high

Karaoke systems with scoring features have been getting more and more sophisticated lately, and an increasing number now evaluate vocal techniques like vibrato and scooping.

However, the largest part of the scoring criteria is still the accuracy of melody and rhythm.

In this feature, we focus on those criteria and have compiled a selection of songs that are easy to sing and likely to score high, especially ones where it’s easy to follow the melody and rhythm.

When karaoke has a scoring function, you can’t help but want to go for a high score, whether you’re confident in your singing or not.

For each song, we’ve also included tips on how to earn a high score, so be sure to use them as a reference and aim for your best.

That said, the most important thing is to forget about the numbers and just sing freely and have fun the way you like!

Karaoke songs that are easy for women to score high on (231–240)

ColorfulSHISHAMO

SHISHAMO is a female three-piece rock band that has gained popularity for their music packed with cuteness and emotional vibes.

Their foundation is mainly pop, and they occasionally release punk-style or alternative tracks.

Their new song, Colorful, features a melody with strong J-pop elements.

The vocal line in this track is very simple, with no drastic pitch shifts or difficult high notes.

For most women, it’s easy to sing in the original key, making it a perfect choice for aiming for a high score at karaoke.

MisterYOASOBI

This is YOASOBI’s 14th digital-only single, released on February 16, 2022.

The tempo and rhythm are very easy to groove to, and the vocal melody is easy to hum along with, so I recommend it as a song choice if you’re aiming for a high score.

The beat has a bit of a bounce, so be mindful of where the accents fall and make sure your singing doesn’t become flat.

Study carefully where to hold notes and where to cut them short, then give it a try.

Open your heartZARD

Open Your Heart (Music Video)
Open your heartZARD

This is ZARD’s 18th single, released in May 1996.

At the time, it was also used as a commercial song for Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s Pocari Sweat.

It’s a mid-tempo track where Izumi Sakai’s unadorned vocals resonate with a touch of poignancy, yet the vocal melody is crafted to be very memorable and easy to sing.

With this one, many people should be able to aim for high scores at karaoke.

Not just this song, but 1990s J-pop—especially ZARD’s catalog—is a treasure trove of tracks that are easy to sing and great for scoring well at karaoke.

If you’re interested, try searching around; you’re sure to find a new favorite song!

Swaying feelingsZARD

Swaying Feelings (What a beautiful memory 2007)
Swaying feelingsZARD

This is ZARD’s 8th single overall, released on May 19, 1993.

At the time of its release, it became a massive hit, selling over a million copies.

The 1990s, when this song came out, were truly the golden age of J-pop! Record labels were very conscious of how songs would be sung in the karaoke market to boost sales.

Among them, B-Gram Records, the label ZARD belonged to, especially leaned into this trend.

Not just this track, but ZARD’s songs from that era in general are perfect choices if you’re aiming for a high karaoke score.

The melody and lyrics are very friendly and easy to remember, so definitely try for a high score with this one! It might also be fun to compete with friends in a one-song score battle with this track!

A sky full of holesadieu

This is adieu’s second single overall, released on March 2, 2022.

By the way, “adieu” is pronounced ah-dew and is the artist name used by actress Mone Kamishiraishi for her singing activities.

The song we’re introducing this time, Anaaki no Sora (“Sky with a Hole”), is a very gentle, medium-tempo track, and the vocal melody doesn’t have particularly complex movements, so I think it’s relatively easy to aim for a high score at karaoke by casually humming along.

The A-melody part should be especially easy to sing for women who are good at low notes.

There are a few spots in the chorus that are sung in falsetto (head voice), so if possible, listen carefully to the original beforehand and practice switching registers smoothly before giving it a try!

beetle (specifically, a rhinoceros beetle)aiko

This is aiko’s fourth major-label single, released in November 1999.

At the time of its release, it landed multiple commercial and TV tie-ins and became a platinum hit.

The track was produced to best match aiko’s distinctive voice and singing style, making it easy to see why it became such a big hit back then.

As for the song itself, there are a few spots where the vocal melody line moves in slightly unusual ways, so it might be a bit advanced if you’re aiming for a high karaoke score.

But if you really learn the song well before singing, you should be fine! Try practicing smooth transitions into falsetto (head voice) for the highest notes in the chorus.

If you’re not confident about switching registers smoothly, go ahead and lower the karaoke key.

Even so, onlymiwa

Even so, onlymiwa

Miwa is a female singer-songwriter who continues to attract popularity with her catchy musical style.

She has created many classic songs, but among her relatively newer works, the one I recommend is Soredemo Tada.

While it isn’t a song with no high parts at all, the lyrics have relatively few words, which gives you ample breathing room before the next phrase.

Since many recent songs don’t offer that kind of space, the vocal line in this track should be very easy to sing for those who worry about breathing or swallowing saliva.
