The Terra Rosa I’m introducing this time may be something of a well-kept secret to the general public, but in the world of Japanese-style melodic HR/HM, it’s no exaggeration to call them a heavyweight.

The first thing that will blow you away when you listen is the voice of vocalist Kazue Akao! It’s a powerful voice that sounds almost like a male singer, but she’s a woman! If a female singer picks this song at karaoke and delivers it with the same power as the original, she’s sure to be the center of attention.
It’s a pretty niche genre, but I’d love to see more people take on the challenge of singing this track.

This is the fifth digital single by Japanese singer-songwriter Tani Yuuki, released on May 26.
I think the chorus melody, centered around the mid-range, is relatively easy to sing, but the low notes in the A section and the fast, sharply rising and falling phrases in the following B section can be quite challenging.
For the low notes in the A section, try practicing to produce a voice that resonates solidly in the chest—using a strong chest voice.

If you’re looking for a cool, stylish track, how about this one? It’s a song by iri, a singer-songwriter from Kanagawa Prefecture, included on her 2019 album “Shade.” She sings with a touch of regret about a daily life that doesn’t change no matter what she does, and yet there’s a mysterious feeling that she’s still looking forward to tomorrow.
Calling it “languid” might sound negative, but that style of singing is truly wonderful.
