Karaoke songs that make it easy to score 100 points [for women]

With the rise of K-pop in recent years, the difficulty level of Japanese music has risen significantly.

In karaoke scoring—where pitch control is paramount, especially because melodies now tend to jump more drastically—there seem to be far fewer songs with which you can realistically aim for a perfect 100.

So this time, we’ve selected easy-to-sing tracks, focusing on recent releases, that you can target for a 100! We’ve also included concrete technique explanations from a vocal coach, so be sure to read through to the end!

Since the overall vocal range is C4–F5, one of my male voice-training students sang it an octave lower! The rhythm is steady and the melody is easy to follow, so it might be just right for women to sing in the original key and for men to sing an octave down.

When singing, the key is to avoid belting and base your voice on falsetto.

If you’re not used to high notes, practice humming.

If you hum using your throat, your singing voice will also stay throaty, so use more breath than you think and hum lightly.

I want you to take in a lot of air through your mouth, but if your chest expands when you inhale, it becomes chest breathing and creates tension.

Relax your shoulders and let the breath go into your abdomen instead.

After that, lightly hold your breath for a moment to prepare, then hum gently—this makes it easier to grasp the right sensation!

This was YOASOBI’s first CD single, released in March 2021.

It was issued as a double A-side single together with “Yasashii Suisei,” and it was used as the opening theme for season 2 of the anime BEASTARS.

The song’s vocal melody has a quirky twist, but once you learn it well and get over that hurdle, the vocal range it uses isn’t that wide, so aiming for a perfect 100 in karaoke doesn’t seem too unrealistic.

As with the original, striving for a cool, impassive delivery is likely the quickest route to a perfect score.

When you take on the challenge, make it your top priority to sing while keeping the rhythm precisely.

Blues in the Closetzutto mayonaka de ii no ni.

Blues in the Closetzutto mayonaka de ii no ni.

A band that has garnered overwhelming support from women in their teens and twenties with its catchy musicality, Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.

In this work, the A and B sections are composed of rap.

Because of that, the only challenging part is the chorus; even then, it merely leans slightly toward higher notes, and the chorus itself doesn’t have a wide vocal range.

The rap uses a simple, conversational flow, so if you can match pitch, you can easily aim for a perfect score.

However, since the rap is in a conversational style, women living in prefectures with strong local dialects may struggle with the A and B sections.

MIMiNARI is a music project by nari and sham, known for its wide-ranging musicality—from stylish tracks to orthodox J-pop.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “Yoenai feat.

Anonymouz.” It features a nostalgic, groovy sound reminiscent of 1980s synth-pop.

Although it contains many high notes, most of the vocals are delivered in a whispery tone, making it relatively easy to sing.

With no abrupt jumps in pitch, it’s a song that makes scoring 100 quite attainable.

I can’t stay a daydreaming girlAikawa Nanase

This was Nanase Aikawa’s debut single, released in November 1995.

It was used as the commercial song for “SUPER NOVA RACING” and as the ending theme for the Fuji TV drama “V no Honō,” and despite being a debut single, it became a major hit, selling 368,000 copies.

It’s crafted as a rock song with a slightly dark image.

If you sing it carefully, the rhythm, tempo, and melody are all very easy to handle, so I think it’s an ideal choice when you want to aim for a perfect score.

That said, it’s really a song I’d love people to enjoy singing at karaoke without worrying about scores—dark, cool, and free.

Composer Yukopi is known for a comical style that leaves a strong impression.

Their music has a cohesive sound, and they consistently release quirky, surreal, and cute tracks.

Among Yukopi’s songs, the one I especially recommend as being easy to score a perfect 100 on is “I Want to Eat Naan (feat.

Kaai Yuki).” While Yukopi has released hit songs like “Strong Wind All Back,” “Pig Thunder,” and “Waking Palm Tree,” this track has a much narrower vocal range compared to their previous works.

There are no high notes, the tempo is steady, and there are no long sustained notes, making it a song that’s very easy to score a 100 on.

If I'm wrapped in kindnessMatsutōya Yumi

Yumi’s “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara” is the theme song for the film Kiki’s Delivery Service, and it has a nostalgic feel, doesn’t it? I’ve sung this one at karaoke too, and since the opening notes are really low, it might be an easy song to pitch for people who are good at low tones! When you sing it, make sure to keep a steady 4/4 beat so the rhythm doesn’t slip.

Also, the arrangement builds toward the latter half, so be mindful of dynamics and project your voice clearly into the mic—doing so can boost your score, so give it a try!
