With the rise of K-pop in recent years, the difficulty level of Japanese music has risen significantly.

So this time, we’ve selected easy-to-sing tracks, focusing on recent releases, that you can target for a 100! We’ve also included concrete technique explanations from a vocal coach, so be sure to read through to the end!

Please forget it.Yorushika

Yorushika’s hit number “Please Forget.” This piece embodies the languid tone that Yorushika excels at.
The performance is particularly distinctive, featuring dynamic shifts that effectively incorporate handclap sounds.
As you might expect from its ennui, the vocal line is extremely simple.
While many recent songs feature dramatic pitch changes, this one keeps a slow tempo with a gentle, restrained melody.
As a new song you can score a perfect 100 on, it’s among the easiest to sing.

graduation ceremonySARD UNDERGROUND

This is the fifth single from SARD UNDERGROUND, a tribute band to ZARD, the female artist who took the 1990s by storm, released in February 2023.
As you’d expect from a group calling themselves a ZARD tribute band, the song is suffused with the nostalgic flavor of classic ’90s J-pop, and the vocal melody itself is very easy to sing and hum along to.
The tempo is a bit on the heavy side, so as long as you’re careful not to rush the rhythm when singing, it’s a song with which you can definitely aim for a perfect score.
Don’t give upZARD

This was ZARD’s sixth single, released on January 27, 1993.
The mid-90s, when this song came out, was truly the golden age of J-pop, with one million-selling hit after another.
Among them, ZARD stood out as a leading “million-selling” artist.
Back then, boosting CD sales depended even more than today on how often songs were sung in karaoke, and this track was likely crafted with that in mind.
It features an easy-to-sing, easy-to-remember melody, memorable lyrics, and a very catchy rhythm and tempo.
If you’re aiming for a perfect 100 in karaoke, choosing 90s J-pop—not just this song—is arguably the classic strategy.
And of course, it’s a lot of fun to sing, so enjoy yourself while you go for that high score!
Absolute Sixth SenseHinatazaka46

Hinatazaka46 is an idol group that’s gained popularity thanks to its uniquely individual members.
Although turnover is frequent in the Sakamichi-series groups, Hinatazaka has relatively low member turnover, and many of the original members are still active on the front lines.
Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Zettaiteki Dairokkankan (Absolute Sixth Sense).
Because it has a slightly Latin flavor, it might seem difficult to sing, but the vocal range in this track is set quite narrowly.
There’s no need to belt and there are no long sustained notes, so as long as you can stay on pitch, it’s a song where anyone can aim for a perfect score.
Don’t you see!ZARD

This is ZARD’s 19th single, released in January 1997.
It was used as the second ending theme for the anime Dragon Ball GT.
If you sing it at karaoke, the vocal melody doesn’t cover a very wide range, and there are very few parts that require difficult high notes, so it might be perfect when you want to aim for a perfect 100.
Its brisk tempo is another point in its favor.
medicineYuika

Yuika’s popular song “Okusuri.” Because it’s frequently used on TikTok and Instagram, many of you have probably heard it before.
Listening to this track, which gives the impression of having a high vocal range, some people might feel they can’t picture getting a perfect score.
However, the song’s range is surprisingly narrow, and if you match the key properly, you can definitely aim for a high score.
The vocal line isn’t intense, and there are no sudden jumps in pitch, so you can maintain solid pitch control.
I fall in love with you againNishino Kana

Kana Nishino has recently returned to the spotlight.
With the comeback of this former songstress, many women of her generation are likely paying attention to her again.
Among her works, the track I especially recommend is Mata Kimi ni Koi wo Suru.
It incorporates a touch of hip-hop to suit current trends, so there are many rap-like sections, and the chorus is crafted to be easy to sing, like a rap hook.
The vocal range is narrow as well, so if you’re aiming for a perfect score, definitely give it a try.
