Formed in 2016 and making their major debut in 2017, LOVEBITES captivates with dazzling twin-guitar harmonies and a powerful rhythm section.

Many of their songs feature English lyrics, and their music production is geared toward international activity.

That same year, they performed at Germany’s Wacken Open Air, enthralling an audience of around ten thousand.

LIES GOES ONMay’n

Not only as a singer, but also as a voice actor and musical theater actress, May’n has been remarkably active.

The song featured here, “LIES GOES ON,” was released in August 2023 as her 21st single.

Even in this up-tempo track, you can fully enjoy her powerful and beautifully resonant high-tone voice.

Simply analyzing how she switches between various high registers throughout different sections of the song offers plenty to learn, making it a track I especially recommend that aspiring female singers give a listen to at least once.

When it comes to female singers with husky voices, we can’t skip Miho Nakano from the rock band Drop’s! Influenced by the blues and fans of THEE MICHELLE GUN ELEPHANT, their songs are pure rock ’n’ roll.

And Nakano’s vocals shine with a personality that matches that energy.

The moment you hear her, you’ll feel how perfectly her voice fits their music—punchy and cool! Highly recommended if you want to hear a badass husky voice.

This is Lila Ikuta’s eighth digital-only single, released in January 2023; she is also active as ikura, the vocalist of YOASOBI.

By the way, the title “蒲公英” is read as “Tanpopo,” meaning dandelion.

Lila Ikuta has long been praised for her captivating high-tone voice, and that charm is in full effect in this track as well! By skillfully switching between a chest voice that resonates with rich upper overtones and a soft falsetto (head voice), she delivers a brilliant performance.

If you can reproduce this at karaoke, you’re sure to earn admiration from those around you.

But please, don’t strain your throat trying to force the high notes.

AINOUNakamura Kaho

Kaho Nakamura – AINOU (FUJI ROCK 19)
AINOUNakamura Kaho

A singer-songwriter who became widely known among a broad range of listeners after voicing the protagonist and performing the in-film songs for the animated feature Belle.

She draws attention for her genre-defying musicality and her activities in various formats, including solo, duo, and band.

Her distinctive voice—both translucent and powerful—and the singular phrasing of her melodies create a striking impact that only Kaho Nakamura can convey.

Highly regarded within the music industry, she’s a singer-songwriter whose future work you won’t want to miss.

Beast KISSMelody Chubak

Melody Chubak is a half-Canadian, half-Japanese singer-songwriter.

Many of you might know her from her days as a child actress on the TV show Tensai TV-kun.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is Kemonokiss.

Musically, it’s crafted in a gothic-style R&B vein, similar to the recent trend set by Sam Smith’s Unholy.

Be sure to check it out.

chantAdo

Ado’s 18th digital-only single, released in September 2023.

It’s a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan’s Halloween event “Halloween Horror Nights,” and serves as the theme song for the dance show “Zombie de Dance,” where it has been used since 2023.

The track is crafted as a notably powerful EDM number, and that power owes a lot to Ado’s wonderful husky voice.

Let yourself be captivated by her husky vocals as she masterfully delivers the dramatically rising and falling melody.
