Hokkaido

Midorioka Festival | Otaru University of CommerceHokkaido, Sat 6/20–Sun 6/21
Midorioka Festival: This year’s theme is “Shōdai Prosperity ~Akinai Festival~.” As a university of commerce, the theme was chosen with the concept of drawing big crowds so that “business (akinai)” thrives, and creating a lively festival that no one will “get bored (akinai)” of. Very clever! Come feel the energy of Otaru University of Commerce students through the exhibits and food stalls!

It’s the university festival at Kitami Institute of Technology. There are lots of events that bring out your inner kid, like a bingo tournament, a Super Smash Bros. tournament, and a strikeout game. There’s also a beauty pageant, so there are plenty of activities for women to enjoy as well!

Shirakaba Festival | Rakuno Gakuen UniversityHokkaido, Sat 7/4–Sun 7/5
Every year, the Shirakaba Festival is held at Rakuno Gakuen University. There are stage events run by student clubs and open classes. Plus, there are many programs unique to Rakuno Gakuen! In the cowshed program, you can not only see cows and chickens, but also tour the latest technology used in the barn facilities. You can interact with many animals—it almost feels like you’ve come to a ranch. Come enjoy a university festival that’s a bit different from the rest.

Koyo Festival | Sapporo Gakuin University (Shin-Sapporo Campus)Sat, 10/3 Hokkaido
Sapporo Gakuin University is a private university established in 1968, with its main campus in Bunkyodai, Ebetsu City, Hokkaido. It is a humanities-focused institution comprising five faculties—Business Administration, Economics, Humanities, Law, and Social Information—with nine departments. The university is strong in track and field and is a regular participant in the All Japan University Ekiden and the Izumo Ekiden. Its school festival, called Seiransai, is held every June.
