Japan Women’s College of Physical Education, located in Setagaya, Tokyo, is a women’s university with two departments in the Faculty of Physical Education and has produced famous athletes such as Azusa Iwashimizu (women’s soccer) and Airi Hatakeyama (rhythmic gymnastics). Every October, it hosts the Kenbisai festival, featuring food stalls, dance contests, performance showcases, exhibitions, and live music by artists.

Murasaki Festival | Atomi University for WomenOct 25 (Sat) – 26 (Sun), Tokyo

Atomi University is a women’s university with campuses in Tokyo and Saitama, and its annual school festival, called the “Murasaki Festival,” is held every autumn. The name is said to derive from the idiom “murasaki no yukari” (ties of purple), which in turn comes from a poem in the Kokinshū: “Because of a single purple gromwell, I look upon all the grasses of Musashino with affection.”
