Drawn in by the savory aromas of the food stalls and finding yourself captivated by the stage performances, the campus is filled with a special festival energy that excites not only students but everyone who visits.

One of the unique joys of school festivals is getting to enjoy the distinctive events and decorations that reflect each university’s character.

Tsuda University was founded in 1900 as a private school, the Women’s English School, dedicated to women’s higher education. The words of its founder, Umeko Tsuda—who urged students to be “well-rounded women”—have been passed down to the present day. The school festival is held on the Kodaira Campus and features a wide variety of events, including stage performances and exhibitions. Collaborative projects with external companies are sometimes organized as well.

The Tama Festival held at Hosei University’s Tama Campus is officially called the “Jishu Hosei Festival, Tama Area.” As the name suggests, it’s run with the philosophy that students take the lead and work together with local residents to create the festival.
