No-sew pouch made from a snack bag

Do you have a favorite snack? If your favorite snack comes in a bag, how about turning the empty bag into a pouch? Here’s an idea for a sturdy zippered pouch that you can make without using a needle and thread—no sewing required.
First, cut off all four sides of your favorite snack bag, then attach it to a soft card case from a 100-yen shop using double-sided tape.
Do the same for the back side, attach a zipper to the top of the two pieces using fabric double-sided tape, and seal the remaining three sides with double-sided tape—that’s it! It’s so cute you might find yourself wanting to make more than one.
cute hat

If you like miniature-style creations, I recommend making cute little hats.
This project shows how to make a straw hat using a paper cup.
You’ll cut fine slits, fold them, and build up the shape.
Once it’s finished, try tying on a ribbon or decorating it with stickers.
Using patterned paper cups is a great option, too.
Make lots while studying different designs.
The size is just right, so it’s perfect for dolls and figures.
Secret box

How about a handmade secret box for girls who love a dreamy-cute vibe? The best part is that you can make it using only materials from the 100-yen shop! Attach a piece of styrofoam—cut to look like a treasure chest lid—on top of a wooden box, then smooth the surface with whipped cream clay for sweets deco, and you’re set.
Paint the wooden parts of the box with acrylic paint for a clean finish.
Add rhinestones and pearls for the final decorations, and it’s complete! Make a special box to safely store things you don’t want to lose, like accessories.

Let’s make a squishy.

Making squishies you can play with over and over is also a great idea for an independent study project.
Squishies are toys with a soft, fluffy feel.
You’ve probably seen squishies that look just like real food.
Since you’ll be making your own this time, enjoy taking the time to think about what kind of food-themed squishy you want to create.
Another fun point is that you can customize them depending on your ideas.
For example, you could use slime to represent stretchy cheese, or make one where something pops out when you press it—that sounds fun too.
Let’s make chalk

Chalk, always paired with the blackboard at school.
Did you know that this familiar item, used in class almost every day, can actually be made by hand? The materials are eggshells, flour, water, and food coloring for tinting.
First, finely pulverize the eggshells.
Put them in a mortar and start by crushing them coarsely, then grind them down into a powder.
Once it’s fine, add flour and water and knead it together thoroughly.
When it comes together, divide it into portions, add color, and let it harden.
You can roll it in paper to make thin sticks, or use cute silicone molds.
Dried Flower Art

Let’s make dried flower art that can double as a stylish interior decor piece! The materials you’ll need—dried flowers, floral scissors, a canvas, a glue gun, paint, and brushes—can all be found at 100-yen shops.
First, paint the canvas in any color you like.
Once the paint is dry, use the glue gun to attach the dried flowers—after trimming off the stems—to the canvas.
Be careful not to knock off any petals as you work.
You can buy dried flowers, or try making your own by drying your favorite blooms.
Felt mini pouch

This is a mini pouch made of felt that even children like elementary school students and beginners at crafts can easily try! It’s especially recommended for girls who are good at sewing—a cute, palm-sized pouch.
It’s convenient to prepare a pattern in advance.
The method is to cut the felt and sew the pieces together with a blanket stitch.
Changing the felt colors or swapping the accent button for beads would be lovely, too! You’ll definitely find yourself absorbed in the process of hand-sewing each stitch.
It’s also fun to think about what to put in the pouch as you make it.
