N.E.O.CHAI

CHAI is a four-piece girls’ band from Aichi Prefecture.
Formed in 2012, they’ve drawn attention with their unique “NEO Kawaii” concept.
Their music features a pop, energetic sound and lyrics centered on women’s self-affirmation.
They’ve released albums such as PINK and PUNK and have performed at numerous music festivals in Japan and abroad.
In 2019, they released their second album, PUNK, which gained popularity for its addictive tunes.
With pink as their symbol, their music transforms insecurities into something positive—perfect for anyone who wants to embrace their true self.
The members’ distinct personalities are also a major draw: twins Mana and Kana, Yuuki, who also creates illustrations, and the energetic Yuna together create a truly one-of-a-kind world.
frecklesJUDY AND MARY

JUDY AND MARY, affectionately known as JudyMari, were active in the 1990s.
Although they disbanded in 2001 to the regret of many, their songs are still loved today.
With many breezy, fast-paced tracks—such as Sobakasu, which served as the opening theme for the anime Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story—just listening to their music is refreshingly exhilarating.
Shunkan SentimentalSCANDAL

SCANDAL is recommended for anyone looking for a highly skilled girls’ band.
Since their major debut in 2008, they’ve performed numerous anime theme songs and become well-known not only in Japan but also among overseas fans of Japanese pop culture.
They have many solid, full-on rock tracks that, in a good way, don’t feel like the stereotypical “girls’ band,” and they’re supported even among rock-loving music aficionados.
Chronostasiskinoko teikoku

Kinoko Teikoku is a female-fronted band loved for their catchy, ear-friendly songs with shoegaze in the background and emotional lyrics.
Due to their bassist’s departure, the band sadly went on hiatus in 2019.
They’ve released many tracks that range from blatantly shoegaze-influenced to those where the influence emerges on closer listen, appealing not only to general rock fans but also to dedicated shoegaze listeners.
If you’re a hardcore music fan, be sure to give them a listen.
bulletCö shu Nie

Cö shu Nie is a rock band rapidly gaining attention after being chosen for multiple anime theme songs.
Vocalist Mirai Nakamura’s voice is beautiful with a tinge of wistfulness, leaving a delicate and memorable impression.
Their songs, featuring aggressive bass, dynamic drum phrases, and skillful use of sequences, never get boring.
They’re the kind of band whose allure draws you in deeper the more you listen.
