Recommended Japanese female-vocal bands (41–50)
MoonFLOWER FLOWER

This four-piece band was formed by artist YUI, who once made a huge splash as a singer-songwriter, after she put her solo career on hold.
In contrast to the love pop songs she often sang during her solo era, the band is characterized by a powerful, cool sound.
Free and energetic tracks, liberated from her solo-era image, strongly reflect the rock side within her.
The Dream Is Not Deaddizzy sunfist

Dizzy Sunfist is a three-piece band from Osaka consisting of Ayapeta on guitar, Iyama on bass, and moAi on drums.
It’s a band with female members on guitar and bass.
Ayapeta and Iyama formed the band when they were in high school, initially focusing on covers of bands like Hi-Standard.
These days, they’re regulars at summer festivals and a popular act whose live shows are always lively.
PivotSHAKALABBITS

From around the late 2000s, SHAKALABBITS enjoyed considerable popularity as a ska-punk band.
With their cute looks and songs that were both adorable and cool, they became a band many female rock fans admired.
Vocalist UKI also had such influence that she became a fashion trendsetter.
And of course, their work is outstanding.
UkifuneGO!GO!7188

GO!GO!7188 rose to popularity as a three-piece band and even held a successful concert at the Nippon Budokan in 2004.
In 2006, their participation in America’s “SXSW Japan Nite” brought them international attention.
Although they sadly disbanded in 2012, their songs that blend rock and kayōkyoku (Japanese popular music) are still loved today.
I want to burn out.Kino Kohoteru

Kinoco Hotel is a girls’ band formed around keyboardist and vocalist Marianne Shinonome.
With the concept of “pop, radical, and highly addictive popular music,” they’ve released many songs with a slightly retro vibe.
The vocalist’s singing style is reminiscent of Showa-era kayōkyoku, and listening to it can make you feel as if you’ve time-traveled.
