Recommended Japanese female-vocal bands (31–40)
something like thatyonige

Yonige is a two-woman girls’ band formed in Neyagawa, Osaka.
Their songs, filled with realism and emotional closeness, resonate strongly with women of the same generation and have earned solid support.
That’s no surprise—every lyric is written by vocalist Arisa Ushimaru, based on her own experiences.
They’re a compelling duo whose songs about love feel raw and real, and whose slightly out-of-step-with-modern-society sensibility strikes a chord.
UTOPIAFINLANDS

True to their band name FINLANDS, they’re an unusual act that performs live in quite heavy clothing.
But contrary to their quirky appearance, their songs are addictive and full of unique twists.
The trickiness of the vocals in particular really sticks with you.
It’s a rock band I recommend to anyone who wants to hear a talented, expressive group with excellent songwriting and beautiful lyrics.
Cherry on the beakEGO-WRAPPIN’

EGO-WRAPPIN’ is a powerhouse Japanese act the country is proud of.
A band whose appeal lies in its eclectic blend of jazz, funk, and more, they boast a vocalist with overwhelming expressive power and gritty, biting songs that are simply addictive.
Their music is distilled into a level of originality that creates a truly one-of-a-kind atmosphere—you get the sense no other band like them will emerge in the future.
There will be love there -A Place with Love-the brilliant green

This is a band for which Tomoko Kawase—also known for her solo work under the name Tommy february6—writes lyrics and handles vocals.
They’ve collaborated with a variety of media and provided many songs, so there’s a good chance you’ve heard at least one of their tracks.
The video features a song from 1999, but even now it’s a refreshing listen, with lyrics crafted by Tomoko Kawase and a vocal delivery that conveys a touch of languid charm.
Kagerou DaysWagakki Band

Wagakki Band is an eight-member rock group that blends traditional Japanese instruments with Western ones, earning high acclaim both in Japan and abroad.
Formed from vocalist Yuko Suzuhana’s desire to bring traditional performing arts to the world in a more pop-friendly way, the band is known not only for original songs but also for covers of VOCALOID tracks—activities that put Japanese-born culture front and center.
Suzuhana’s vocals morph freely from the nuanced phrasing of a certified shigin (traditional recitation) master to the softness of a pop singer, making them worth a listen even for non-fans.
With each member boasting top-tier musicianship, they are a one-of-a-kind rock band poised for even greater success.
