So it’s summer.↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓

“Natsu Nandana,” released in June 2003 by one of Japan’s leading rock bands, ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓! It’s a quintessential High-Lows track with an exhilarating sense of speed.
Lyrics and composition by Masatoshi Mashima.
Hiroto Kōmoto’s rock ’n’ roll vocals hit you straight on.
As you might expect from its use in the Japan Coca-Cola Aquarius commercial, the upbeat, summery tempo matches the sound perfectly.

left-right confusionYorushika

This is a song by Yorushika that was released digitally in 2022.
Many of you may know it as the theme song for the film Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight.
The title term “sayūmō” refers to a state where one can’t distinguish between right and left.
It perfectly captures the protagonist’s painful feelings as their memories with someone important gradually fade, as depicted in the lyrics.
It’s a track that will make anyone who’s seen the film cry, but it’s also a deeply moving, heartrending ballad that I’d recommend even to those who haven’t watched the movie.
E.G.summer RIDERE-girls

The song that turns up the heat on a passionate summer romance is “E.G.

The track is a fervent piece of electronica, filled with bright, colorful synth tones.
Its energetic lines depicting a summer love story will set your heart ablaze.

Starting with high school baseball, summer offers many chances for students to face all kinds of challenges, from club activities to studying.
In times like these, SHISHAMO’s 2019 release “OH!” is a song that cheers you on.
Summer is hot, it’s easy to lose focus, and there are plenty of moments when, even though you’re giving it your all, everyone around you seems to be having fun, or you feel like you’re about to lose the battle with yourself.
Even so, this song carries a message of encouragement: rile yourself up, and no matter how others see you, give everything you’ve got in this fleeting moment—now or never! It’s the season to dig in; with just one more step, then another, let’s keep pushing forward while singing this song!

Surfside, at this pointTUBE

When you think of TUBE, energetic summer songs like 1986’s “Season in the Sun” and 1990’s “Ah, Natsu Yasumi” come to mind.
By contrast, 2015’s “Imasara Surfside” is a calmer, mid-tempo summer tune that’s a bit different from those tracks.
Notably, the lyrics make abundant use of TUBE’s signature techniques—light rhyming and playful wordplay in the chorus.
If you sing it with those rhymes in mind, it’s sure to fire up the room at karaoke!
