[Sports Day for Adults] Events and Games Adults Can Enjoy & Classic Competitions (11–20)
Caterpillar Race

The caterpillar race, which emphasizes full-body movement including the arms and legs, is sure to be a hit even at an adults’ sports day.
Make a caterpillar by connecting cardboard pieces into a tube big enough for a person to fit inside.
The rules are simple: get inside the caterpillar and use your whole body, like crawling, to roll the caterpillar forward from the start to the finish.
Once you reach the finish line, step out of the caterpillar and pass it to the next person.
The team that finishes first wins.
Reinforce the caterpillar well with packing tape so it doesn’t break.
Dodgebee

Dodgebee is a game played with a soft, disc-shaped “soft disc,” similar to dodgeball.
First, teams of 13 players face off on an 18m x 9m court, trying to hit opponents with the disc to reduce the number of players inside the court, just like in dodgeball.
The rules are simple: the team with more players remaining on the court at the end wins.
Since the soft disc doesn’t hurt even if it hits the body, it’s nice that there’s little risk of injury.
bread-eating contest

Introducing a bread-eating race that brings smiles to everyone’s faces when they see people biting into bread—fun for adults too.
Hang pieces of bread from a string stretched between two poles.
Set the bread positions evenly.
Along the course from start to finish, participants must grab the hanging bread using only their mouths—no hands allowed.
Because the bread is simply suspended, even a slight touch with the mouth makes it swing, so it’s surprisingly tricky to get.
Once you’ve caught the bread with your mouth, run to the finish line.
Adjusting the height of the bread according to participants’ ages and heights can make the event even more exciting.
the eye of a typhoon

“Typhoon’s Eye” is a race in which teams of 4–5 people run a course while all holding a long pole.
Several traffic cones are placed along the course, and the rule is to make one full turn around each cone.
During the turn, the people near the center must step in place while the people on the outside have to take a wider path, so teamwork is essential.
Also, because pulling on the pole creates outward centrifugal force, try devising strategies such as placing your fastest runners on the outside!
Stage of Splendor

It’s a popular sports day event where teams compete to see how many people can fit onto the “flower stage.” Think of it as a cooperative brain game where strategy and teamwork decide the outcome.
Set up platforms, hula hoops, or other frames that people can get into.
Then, in time with a chant, have participants get on one by one.
If someone is late on the cue, falls out of the frame, or fails to get on properly, they’re out at that moment.
The final score is the number of people who successfully made it onto the stage.
Placement and order matter—put a sturdier, well-built person in the center as a pillar, and have lighter, agile members surround them.
Through the event, teammates build stronger bonds.
