Aim for a high score! A collection of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students

When karaoke has a scoring feature, you can’t help wanting to go for a high score, right?

I’m sure many of you enjoy competing for high scores with your friends.

This time, for high school students who love karaoke, I’ve selected some songs that seem relatively easy to sing and good for aiming at high scores.

The key to getting a high score at karaoke is, above all else, to memorize the melody and rhythm (note values) accurately!

If you want to aim for a high score, listen closely to the guide melody, memorize it, and then try singing.

If you’re thinking, “There’s no way I can memorize all that,” one trick might be to turn up the guide melody volume so it’s easier to hear while you sing.

Some of the individual song introduction articles also include advice specifically for getting high scores, so be sure to use this article as a reference and get a leg up on your friends!

Aim for a High Score! Recommended Karaoke Songs for High School Students: Easy-to-Sing Picks (101–110)

Emeraldback number

This is back number’s second digital-only single, released in October 2020.

It was the theme song for TBS’s Sunday drama “Dangerous Venus.” There are a few spots where you’ll need smooth transitions in vocal production to sing it in karaoke, but basically it’s a straightforward rock number with an easy-to-remember melody, so many people should be able to aim for a high score.

If you’re not confident switching from chest voice to falsetto (head voice), you can lower the key a bit to handle those parts.

It’s a very cool song with a slightly wistful melody, so definitely master it and try for a high score!

Songs by rock bands often demand powerful vocals, include shouty parts, and can be quite challenging to sing at karaoke.

When it comes to rock bands popular among young people, Kyuso Nekokami comes to mind.

Their fresh approach of weaving current events and relatable “we’ve all been there” themes into the lyrics makes their songs real crowd-pleasers at karaoke.

In The band, the chorus lyrics are simple, and above all, what matters isn’t vocal perfection but whether you can pour your soul into the performance.

Faster-tempo rock tends to be graded more leniently, so lean into the rock vibe and power through to the end!

rendezvousshaitoopu

This is the third digital-only single by the three-piece rock band Shytoop, released in April 2023.

The arrangement and vocal melody are produced very simply, making it a great choice when you want to aim for a high karaoke score.

However, precisely because the song is so simple, it becomes important to express it by varying dynamics for each section and phrase and by switching up your vocal delivery when you sing.

So make sure you study those aspects thoroughly before performing.

If possible, it’s best to memorize the lyrics before you sing.

Browniewanuka

Browniewanuka

This is the third digital-only single by singer-songwriter Wanuka, released in June 2021.

True to the artist’s name (perhaps?), the melody and rhythm carry a distinctly Japanese flavor that leaves quite an impression.

The vocal melody is centered in a comfortable midrange that most people can sing, so range shouldn’t be a hurdle for karaoke.

To aim for a high score in karaoke, the key point is how well you can reproduce the song’s overall nonchalant vibe and its light, buoyant feel—without pushing the beat ahead.

The expressive demands aren’t particularly difficult, so study the original carefully and give it a try.

Summer MiracleKALMA

KALMA – Summer Miracle (Music Video)
Summer MiracleKALMA

A three-piece rock band from Hokkaido, KALMA released this track for streaming on June 9, 2021.

It’s an up-tempo rock tune that evokes a refreshing summer, so I kind of hope high schoolers will cover it with a band rather than just singing it at karaoke and really have a blast! The vocal melody and its rhythmic phrasing are very simple, so I think it’s a song where it’s relatively easy to aim for a high score at karaoke.

However, if you sing it in a “rock” style like the band themselves, there’s a risk the karaoke machine will judge it as “sloppy singing,” so if your goal is to score high, it might be better to sing more carefully than the original.

That said, personally, I’d love for you to forget about the score, sing it joyfully, energetically, and aggressively, and blow off some steam!
