ChessboardOfisharu Higedan Dism

This is Official HIGE DANDism’s sixth CD single, released in September 2023, with an advance digital release in August of the same year.
It was reportedly composed as the compulsory piece for the Junior High School Division of the 90th NHK All-Japan School Choir Competition, and it’s a track where you can enjoy a grand, large-scale chorus in the hook and other sections.
In the parts sung solo by vocalist Satoshi Fujihara, his high tones shine as he deftly switches among various vocal techniques.
Of course, mix voice is used very effectively throughout, making this an excellent reference for anyone aiming to master mix voice.
By shifting the resonance placement within your mouth, you can control different vocal timbres, brightness, and power, so be sure to experiment with those aspects as well.
Everyday lifeOfisharu Higedan Dism

This is Official HIGE DANDism’s sixth single, released in September 2023.
It’s their first CD single in about two and a half years, issued as a double A-side with “Chessboard.” The track has a very refreshing mid-tempo feel.
What really highlights that freshness is vocalist Satoshi Fujihara’s masterful use of various high tones throughout his performance.
It’s a song where you can fully enjoy his soaring high notes.
If you sing it at karaoke, try not to strain your throat and aim the sound toward your upper palate as you sing.
You who live on the moonSaucy Dog

A moving ballad that expresses feelings for an older brother who passed away before the singer was born.
Its gently enveloping melody and lyrics—interpretable as a requiem for a beloved presence reunited with in a dream—stir the heart.
Included on Saucy Dog’s mini-album “Blue Period,” released in October 2019, the song also received the band’s first animated music video.
It opens with depictions of the soft glow of fluorescent lights, then delicately portrays thoughts for a cherished person who lives on the moon.
It’s a perfect song for when you want to convey your feelings to someone important or spend time in a calm, peaceful state.
When the magic wears offSaucy Dog

A track included on Saucy Dog’s fifth mini-album, “But Really,” which was released in July 2023.
The band’s vocalist, Shinya Ishihara, has a wonderfully clear, high voice with a touch of boyishness.
Paired with the song’s relaxed, medium tempo, simply listening to it makes you feel incredibly gentle and at ease.
He skillfully switches between chest voice, mixed voice, and falsetto depending on the part and expression, making this an ideal song to study and practice for anyone looking to master singing in the higher range.
SignalWANIMA

This song carries a powerful message of moving forward while staying close to everyday anxieties and doubts.
Set to WANIMA’s signature energetic punk rock sound, it conveys the importance of taking on challenges without striving for perfection.
The track is included on the album “Everybody!!” and was released in January 2018.
It was performed with 1,000 18-year-olds on a special NHK General program, and was also used as the theme song for Lotte Ice’s “Sou” commercial.
It’s a heartfelt anthem for those who feel uncertain about the future or are about to take a new step forward.
EGOISTimase

Singer-songwriter imase is known for his use of falsetto.
His falsetto is somewhat distinctive, rooted in a vocal approach similar to funk singers.
His new track “EGOIST” features that falsetto throughout.
If that were all, it would be business as usual for imase, but in this song the falsetto sits unusually low in range, making pitch control more challenging.
The composition is also somewhat irregular, making it a piece that really tests one’s musical sensibilities.
at that timeyuzu

A digital-only single by Yuzu, released in May 2020.
There are many kinds of high-tone vocalists, but Iwasawa from Yuzu doesn’t use a piercing, metal-style high register; his hallmark is a voice that retains a gentle softness even at high pitches.
My impression is that he probably sings most of his range using mix voice.
The transitions between chest voice, mix, and falsetto are extremely smooth, making the shift points hard to detect—one of the secrets behind Iwasawa’s captivating singing.
This vocal style also fits perfectly with Yuzu’s folk-influenced sound.
He’s a vocalist male singers aiming to improve should definitely study.
