SPIRIT!!INSK@UT

Formed in Tokyo, this seven-piece ska band was one of the groups that led the boom of female-vocal ska bands.

Their horn section has been highly praised by fans and fellow musicians alike, and members have at times served as support players for other bands.

24SPLASH

SPLASH is a ska-punk band formed in 2005 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa.

Rooted in ska punk, their distinctive sound shines through their skillful incorporation of pop punk, rap-rock, and even hip-hop elements.

The four-piece, led by vocalist KOIKE, excels at performances that blend English and Japanese lyrics, and they have released five mini-albums.

On the album MAKE YOUR LIFE, they surprised fans with tracks that strongly lean into a rap-rock mix, effectively incorporating rap and scratching.

They frequently share the stage with SCUMGAMES and MINAMI NiNE, and their live shows across Japan are known for their unity with the audience and irrepressible brightness.

Brimming with positive energy, their music continues to captivate listeners beyond the confines of ska punk.

THE SENSATIONS were formed in 2008, centered around members of UNITED SKATES.

They’re a band that blends the ska and hardcore that influenced them with elements from 1960s Motown and Northern Soul.

Their sound is lively, heavy, and fast, with a horn section, yet it carries a nostalgically familiar atmosphere that leaves an impression.

In Japan, they could be considered the epitome of ska punk, featuring simple English lyrics and clear, bright vocals that are easy to understand—another hallmark of the band.

While rooted in ska, they seem to incorporate everything they love, and the palpable sense that they’re having fun playing is a big part of their appeal.

Pistol Valve, affectionately known as “Pisbal,” debuted independently in 2005 as an 11-member all-female group, but eventually continued as a trio.

Sadly, they announced a hiatus in 2016 following the departure of the last remaining member, M-chan.

They also handled all the opening themes, background music, and ending themes for the TV show “The Best House 123,” so many of their songs may sound familiar.

They’re a ska band that blends the delicacy and allure unique to women with bold, dynamic energy.

They embody the core of Jamaican music, from the laid-back vibe of reggae to the light, buoyant feel of ska.

Their commitment to sounds that evoke Jamaica is another highlight, conveying a deep love for the island.

In 2022—more than 20 years after forming—they released their first full-length album, and this unhurried, easygoing pace seems to be part of the band’s charm.
