I’m Ready For LoveThe DROPS

Formed in the late 1980s, the female-led ska band The DROPS were pioneers based out of the Shimokitazawa live venue ZOO.

Centering their sound on ska, rocksteady, and bluebeat, they developed a distinctive style that won fervent support in Tokyo’s underground scene.

1991年、彼らは、元ZOOのマネージャーである山下直樹が設立したOBI・WAN Recordsから7インチ・シングル「Meet the Drops」をリリースした。

Recorded at Shinjuku JAM STUDIO, the record is still talked about among music aficionados as a rare collector’s item.

While pursuing a traditional ska sound, the band drew out new charms through a uniquely female perspective, making their music highly recommended for fans of Jamaican music.
