June marks the start of the rainy season, and we spend more time indoors.

At times like these, origami is highly recommended.

Most of them are very simple, so even young children can give them a try.

You don’t need any special tools—just origami paper—so it’s easy to get started.

Beer

[Origami] Easy Beer Folding Method! Recommended as a Father’s Day Gift [Origami Beer]
Beer

The third Sunday in June is Father’s Day, right? For Father’s Day, how about making a beer out of origami for a dad who loves beer? Prepare a sheet of yellow origami paper and start folding.

Use the white back side of the paper to make the beer foam.

If you fold it into a shape with a handle, you’ll have a beer mug! Yellow is the typical color for beer, but using black origami paper to make a dark beer is also a great idea.

Match your dad’s preferences and make a cute origami beer!

toothbrush

In conjunction with Cavity Prevention Day on June 4, many nursery schools and kindergartens likely conduct dental checkups and teach children the importance of brushing their teeth and how to do it correctly.

Let’s incorporate toothbrushes into crafts as well to boost children’s interest in toothbrushing.

Choosing their favorite colors and patterns will make the activity even more enjoyable and increase their attachment to their creations—highly recommended.

Since there are steps involving cutting straight lines with scissors, even children who aren’t yet comfortable with scissors will find it easy to try.

Once the crafts are finished, it might be nice to practice brushing everyone’s teeth together to a song!

water lily

What are the flowers of the month for June? Easy origami water lily
water lily

The flower language of water lilies that bloom in June is “a pure heart.” It perfectly suits honest, adorable children, doesn’t it? How about making a three-dimensional water lily with origami? Raising the petals is a challenging step for children, so caregivers should repeatedly demonstrate and proceed at the children’s pace.

It would be great if the children could feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction by completing the difficult task.

They’re sure to be impressed when they see the realistic finished water lily! Another characteristic of water lilies is that they bloom on the water, such as in marshes and ponds, rather than on soil, so it’s also recommended to look them up in picture books or field guides, or go outside to observe them blooming in real life.

hydrangea

When you think of flowers that bloom during the rainy season, many people probably picture hydrangeas.

They look so beautiful, blooming in vivid colors as they’re sprinkled with rain.

Let’s try making hydrangeas out of origami, with their clusters of tiny flowers.

The steps are intricate and the difficulty is high, so it’s also great for encouraging fine motor development in older preschoolers.

If you combine each child’s small flower and display them on the wall, it might create a sense of unity in the class.

Before making them, looking at hydrangeas in picture books or photos, or touching real ones, will deepen the children’s interest and curiosity even more.

Frog

Frog

This is an origami frog that even small children, such as those in the three-year-old class, can make.

It works well to start by reading a picture book featuring frogs or by discussing topics like “What animals are happy when it rains?” First, fold the paper into a triangle twice.

Next, open it once and bring the bottom corner to the center.

Fold the top half down, then fold the left and right corners to meet the bottom corner.

Next, fold both sides diagonally upward and fold the bottom corner up to the center; adjust the creases and the frog’s face is complete.

You can make the frog’s distinctive big round eyes nicely by using round stickers!
