unravelTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

The classic song “unravel” by TK, the vocalist of Ling Tosite Sigure.

It’s a piece marked by deeply sentimental vocals.

Thanks to Ado’s recent cover, the song has surged in popularity again.

Whether it’s the original or Ado’s version, the difficulty is astounding: extremely high falsetto, shouts, and other challenging techniques appear throughout the intensely sung passages.

It also demands substantial expressive ability, so it’s difficult to master unless you have considerable vocal skill.

Right now, the most up-and-coming female singer-songwriter is Tuki.

She gained nationwide popularity with “Bansanka” and has kept releasing hit songs since.

Among her tracks, one of the most difficult is “Moechakka Fire.” This piece, marked by its Japanese-style melodic flavor, features very dramatic pitch movements.

Hitting the notes is already challenging, and on top of that, the frequent use of falsetto makes it exceptionally difficult.

Delusion:AllONE OK ROCK

ONE OK ROCK – Delusion:All [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
Delusion:AllONE OK ROCK

ONE OK ROCK is a rock band that has garnered attention not only in Japan but around the world.

Their authentic sound, on par with Western music, conveys its complexity just by listening.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Delusion:All.

This track features a striking hard rock sound and includes multiple high-pitched parts characteristic of ONE OK ROCK.

Singing powerfully while hitting those high notes is challenging, so give it a try.

Mafumafu is famous for his high-tone voice, but of course there are also songs where his masculine low register resonates.

The overall vocal range of the song is A#2–A#5, and he sings using pitches that aren’t often used either low or high.

The jumps are extreme, and you may have no idea how to produce something like A#5, but above all, make sure not to strain your throat from the low notes upward.

Be sure to consciously keep your facial muscles lifted—that’s a given! Start by using your breath very gently and softly.

You might feel short of breath, but get used to the song by using breathy whispering or consonants like the H-sounds.

Red HotELLEGARDEN

A pop-punk masterpiece packed with youthful restlessness and a sense of speed, released in April 2005! The overall vocal range is fairly narrow, from G3 to G#4, and since all the lyrics are in English, you might worry about pronunciation—but first, focus on learning the song with an emphasis on rhythm.

The tempo is fast, so timing your breaths is also very important.

Singing in English will probably get you more hyped, so it might be good to power through with momentum and emotion! Try keeping the rhythm with your body and tackle it with a strong sense of accent.

Flamejoōbachi

Flamejoōbachi

This is the fifth single by the Japanese four-piece rock band QUEEN BEE (Ziyoou-vachi), released on January 30, 2019.

It was used as the opening theme for the first cour of the 2019 TV anime Dororo.

Even on a quick listen, the song clearly contains many elements that make it far from straightforward to sing.

There are numerous sections delivered in an ultra-high tone using falsetto, as well as many parts that are performed almost like rap or spoken lines, giving the entire track a daunting, hard-to-conquer feel.

Precisely because of that, mastering this song will surely bring you many rewards—so by all means, give it a try!

Telecastic fake showRin to shite Shigure

Rin Toshite Shigure “Telecastic Fake Show”
Telecastic fake showRin to shite Shigure

A towering monument of post-hardcore where chaos and beauty collide! If you can pull this off at karaoke, you’ll become a performer who commands sonic-speed madness.

It’s blisteringly fast, with rapid-fire lyrics, odd time signatures, sharp switches between male and female twin vocals, and huge interval jumps.

It’s probably physically impossible to sing alone, so you’ll likely need a partner.

That said, there aren’t many people—of any gender—who can produce these kinds of voices… Of course, two women singing it is totally fine too! I have a great time singing it with my female vocal students in lessons.

In any case, it’s a stamina battle.

Crank your head voice and belt it out.

Your core strength matters, too.
