The theme of the dance also comes across clearly to parents.

Here, we’ll introduce a variety of costume ideas.

Making costumes for the whole class can be tough, but it’s easy if you use colored plastic bags or nonwoven fabric.

With some fun customization, you can create even more appealing outfits.

butterfly wings

An idea inspired by butterflies that fly around flowers and plants.

Since it’s worn on the back, it’s great as a dance costume that lets your arms and legs move freely.

First, cut patterns out of thick paper shaped like butterfly wings.

Next, attach colored cellophane cut to match the patterns, then add straps for wearing it on your back, and you’re done.

Because it involves cutting and pasting with scissors and tape, it’s perfect for making together with children.

Try incorporating this fantastically colored costume into songs and dances for sports day.

Momotaro

Costume ideas themed on Momotaro, a beloved traditional folktale.

Create them together with the loyal companions—the dog, monkey, and pheasant.

Make hooded headpieces for Momotaro and the animals, and use vests to evoke traditional Japanese clothing.

Add parts that represent small items like peaches and millet dumplings to complete the costumes.

It’s also great to try activities themed around Momotaro, such as songs and dances.

This idea combines cool, Japan-inspired outfits with the kids’ cute looks.

We also recommend incorporating original games tailored to the story.

honeybee

Why not try making a honeybee costume that also appears in picture books and nursery rhymes? It can be worn over regular clothes, making it an easy and recommended cosplay option.

The costume features creative touches like a hat inspired by a bee’s head, wings made from construction paper, and a tail crafted from colored plastic bags.

You could also add bee-themed songs and dances, or include them as activities.

Create costumes that will both lift the spirit of the sports day and soothe everyone with the children’s adorable look.

sushi

sushi

Here’s a costume idea inspired by sushi that will soothe you with the kids’ cuteness.

First, draw the sushi topping on felt fabric.

Next, cut colored felt to match the topping’s pattern, then sew the pieces together along the lines with a sewing machine.

Once the sushi topping is complete, make the nori using black felt and a zipper.

Attach the nori to the children’s backs, and you’ve got a cosplay outfit that turns them into sushi.

Why not try creating these vibrant costumes to liven up songs and dances?

Yukata dress

Yukata dress

Why not try making a yukata dress that takes advantage of the translucent look of colored vinyl bags? This costume can faithfully express the silhouette and color of a yukata, making it perfect for vibrant singing and dancing.

Cut the colored vinyl bags and create the top and skirt separately.

Add patterns like petals or stars to give it a traditional Japanese feel.

Next, craft an obijime and hair accessories to complete the yukata dress.

It’s an outfit that also pairs well with choreography set to smooth, flowing songs.

pirate hat

Angel Land Fukui: “Let’s Make a Pirate Hat”
pirate hat

Costume idea inspired by a pirate’s hat for seafaring adventures.

First, fold a sheet of construction paper in half and cut it into the silhouette of a hat.

Next, secure both ends with double-sided tape, then create wrinkles along the bottom of the hat.

Finally, decorate the top of the hat, then fold the wrinkled section inward to finish.

You can also design hats that incorporate children’s free ideas, or make pirate costumes and props.

This costume is perfect for songs and dances that feature music from pirate-themed movies and anime.

Easy! Handmade cat ears

Replying to @Sakura Sorry for the very late reply…! 🥲🙇🏻‍♀️ It’s a bit hard to explain, but this is how I make the ears! If there’s anything you don’t understand, please leave a comment 🙌🏻 I’m just an ordinary person who doesn’t know any technical terms, so please take this as my personal method 🌟#How to Make EarsHandmade#CatEars#Hard Case Deco#RaceDecoHow to makework video

Create your own original ears using your favorite fabric and pattern! Cut the fabric according to the pattern and sew it together.

For a soft, fluffy finish, add stuffing inside the ears at the end.

The finished cat ear pieces are great because you can customize them—attach them to a headband, glue them to hairpins, and more! You can also stick them onto items like a pass case or a compact mirror.

We recommend using long-pile, fluffy fabric! Give it a try.
