How to fold a carnation without using scissors

Let’s make a carnation using three 7.5 cm origami sheets.
Fold the paper into a triangle, crease, and open it.
Rotate it 90 degrees and fold into a triangle again.
This time, offset it by about 0.2 mm so a sliver of the white side shows.
Next, fold the left and right corners up toward the top corner, then flip the paper over.
While bringing the back-side corner to the front, fold the left and right edges to align with the center line to complete one part.
Make two more identical parts and combine them to finish the flower!
Make it with paper plates! Handmade carnation

A paper plate turns into a beautiful carnation! Here’s a fun idea that changes as you go.
Cut out the inside of the paper plate so only the rim remains, then color the rim in pink or red.
Next, make small slits all around the edge, and on one spot cut all the way through.
Apply double-sided tape all the way around the inside of the rim, and starting from the spot you cut through, wrap it around a stem made from a disposable chopstick.
Once it’s fully wrapped, open up the slit portions and shape them into a flower.
You can make the stem by wrapping green origami paper around the chopstick.

How to make fluffy carnations

You can make lovely carnations with tissue paper and paper straws.
Cut the tissue paper into rectangles, stack several identical pieces, and accordion-fold them.
Staple the center, trim both ends into zigzags, then fluff up each layer to form the flower.
Use a straw for the stem: wrap it with masking tape to turn it green, and snip a slit on one end.
Open the slit and attach the flower to finish the carnation.
Make several and wrap them with lace paper to create a bouquet.
Popup card

A heartfelt message is always a delight, no matter what it is.
If it’s handmade with care and filled with gratitude, the joy of receiving it is all the greater.
There are many occasions for sending cards.
In spring, we have Mother’s Day.
Let’s make a glamorous pop-up card for Mother’s Day that bursts into full-bloom cherry blossoms the moment it’s opened.
To make it easy for young children, have teachers or adults prepare the flowers in advance.
Also, starch glue is easier to handle for sticking the pieces together.
The layered cherry blossoms expanding in three dimensions look wonderfully luxurious.
Pen holder made from paper clay

If you’re going to give a gift, you want it to be something they’ll use every day, right? Here’s a pen holder you can make using paper clay.
Prepare a jar that’s the right size and wrap jute twine around it to secure it.
Then apply paper clay over the twine.
Wrapping the twine helps the paper clay stay in place.
Finally, embed pieces like marbles or pretty stones into the clay for decoration, and once it’s dry and hardened, it’s finished.
Your mom is sure to be delighted with such a heartfelt gift!
Massage voucher

It may be a classic choice, but massage coupons are a surprisingly well-received gift! Parents who are busy every day with work and housework often can’t make it to a massage even when they’re feeling worn out.
With a massage coupon, they can easily refresh at home when they need it.
Just write “Massage Coupon” on any paper you like and note the duration—it’s simple to make, so why not give it a try? It also conveys your wish for your parents to stay healthy and helps strengthen family bonds.
Make a lot—they’re so cute! Origami carnations

Just combine identical parts! This is a carnation made with origami.
To make one carnation, you’ll need four 7.5 cm sheets of origami paper.
Use three for the petals and the remaining one for the leaf.
First, fold the paper into a triangle.
Next, overlap the left and right sides to fold it in half, crease well, and open it.
Fold the left and right corners up to meet the top corner and crease; then, using those creases as guides, fold up the bottom edge on both the left and right from the center line.
Turn the paper over, and this time fold both side edges in to meet the center line.
That completes one part.
Stack and glue three parts together, then attach the leaf made with the same steps underneath to finish the carnation.
Change colors and patterns to make a bouquet—perfect for a gift.
