[Kindergarten/Daycare] Games and Performances for Fun Events

At kindergartens and daycare centers, fun parties and birthday celebrations are held for the children.

Games and performances are essential for these events.

While many teachers are brainstorming ideas to delight the kids who eagerly look forward to them, some may be struggling with a lack of ideas.

In this article, we introduce games and performances that are perfect for such parties.

We’ve gathered a wide variety, from activities led by teachers to ones where children participate and have fun.

They’re all engaging ideas that spark children’s curiosity! Many of these games and performances are actually used in kindergartens and daycare centers, so feel free to use them as a reference.

Telephone game

Playing telephone with a big group was insanely hard lol
Telephone game

The telephone game is a classic recreation.

Children sit in a line, and the child at one end starts by passing along a prompt word so that the others can’t hear.

Whispering from one to the next, making sure no one else can hear, it goes down the line to the end—did the message make it through correctly? That’s the fun of the game.

Because the whispers are so quiet and hard to catch, the message often doesn’t come across accurately—but that’s part of the enjoyment, sparking laughter and excitement.

Rock-Paper-Scissors Train

Rock-Paper-Scissors Train

It’s a very fun game that’s often played at company onboarding sessions and club or circle socials.

It’s especially effective when people haven’t warmed up to each other yet—everyone ends up getting along after this game.

The rules are very simple: two people play rock-paper-scissors, and the loser attaches to the winner from behind like a train.

As you repeat this, a long train forms, and the person who never lost a round gets to stand at the front of the longest train.

It’s more fun if you play in a slightly larger space.

two-person robe (Nininbaori): a comedic act where two people share one kimono-like garment, with the rear person acting as the arms for the front person

It’s an old classic, but the “two-person haori” game always gets people excited no matter the era.

Two people wear a large haori together; the person in back sticks only their hands through and tries to feed the person in front.

It usually doesn’t go well—which is exactly what makes it hilarious and lively.

If you try it with piping hot oden or ramen, things can get out of hand fast (lol).

There are lots of variations—like making something or drawing—but makeup in particular is a guaranteed hit.

The kids will be rolling with laughter for sure!

Giant Fukuwarai

Giant Fukuwarai

Fukuwarai is a classic New Year’s game that’s been around for ages.

In the past, retro faces like Otafuku and Hyottoko were the standard for fukuwarai, but these days there are all kinds, and it’s easy to make your own original version too.

The fun of everyone—kids and adults alike—bursting into laughter when the face doesn’t come together quite right is a big part of its charm.

How about making a giant version of fukuwarai to play? Bigger makes for a more impressive presentation, too (haha).

It’ll be a hit if you try it with characters kids love!

Squirrel Cheek Silhouette Quiz

Squirrel Cheek Silhouette Quiz

Here’s a squirrel cheek silhouette quiz that captivates children with a unique idea.

First, show the kids a sketchbook featuring a squirrel character.

On the first page, depict the squirrel looking hungry.

On the next page, show the squirrel’s cheeks puffed up, with the silhouette of food appearing inside.

Then take out paper cutouts of different foods and have the children guess what’s inside.

In conclusion

Have you found any games or performances that the children are likely to enjoy for the party? They all sounded like things that would get the kids excited! If you tailor the content to their ages and developmental stages, everyone can have fun together, so I highly recommend it. Incorporating popular games or characters that are trending among the children will make it even more exciting. Be sure to choose and plan the games or performances that the kids will enjoy the most. Preparing can be a lot of work, but don’t forget for the teachers to have fun too! Create a fun atmosphere and draw the children in. I hope you have a wonderful time together with the kids!
