How to make a plastic bottle thermometer

Let’s try a science project: making your own thermometer! You’ll need a plastic bottle, water, food coloring, a straw, an awl (or a tool to make a hole), vinyl tape, and glue.
Fill the plastic bottle about two-thirds full of water and add food coloring.
Make a hole in the bottle cap and insert the straw so that about 3 cm of the straw is submerged in the water.
Seal around the straw’s hole with glue.
Draw water up into the straw, screw the cap on tightly, and tape around the cap to secure it.
You’re done! The water level will give you a rough idea of the room temperature.
Flag Puzzle

There are many national flags around the world.
Learning them from a book is fine, but why not try making them yourself? The method is very simple.
Just combine felt cut into various shapes and stick them onto a plastic board to finish.
The key point is to keep the flag designs as simple as possible!
Handicrafts Handmade Picture Book

Let’s try making a handmade picture book using buttons and ribbons on a felt base.
The finished piece has a unique, adorable texture and looks wonderful.
Unlike paper, it’s fine even if it gets wet and is very durable.
Fill it with your own story.
It feels like it could become a real treasure!

Origami Diary

When it comes to summer vacation homework, there are diaries and picture diaries, right? How about turning it into an “origami picture diary” that combines origami and writing? Instead of drawing the pictures, you express them with origami.
On the day you went to the aquarium, you could fold some fish and paste them in, and it would also be nice to fold meals or snacks.
It will look cute if you use masking tape and other materials like a collage, too!
Move a milk-carton Ferris wheel using a motor.

We’re going to make a Ferris wheel using milk cartons.
Smaller cartons are light and can be used as-is, which is great.
Let’s attach a motor and see if we can get it moving.
If you put little figures inside the cartons to represent passengers, it will give it even more of a realistic vibe!
In conclusion
Summer vacation independent research projects are a wonderful opportunity that shine with children’s curiosity and creativity.
From observing ant behavior to extraction experiments, fascinating discoveries await in familiar topics.
If you’re unsure what theme to choose, try the experiments and observations introduced here.
Be sure to compile your observation journal and report carefully, and leave behind your own unique summer research.
