Kids can have fun while learning about Halloween, making it a great educational activity too.
Be sure to try it out on this occasion!
Perfect for Halloween! A World Ghost Quiz

When we think of ghosts and monsters in Japan, we picture things like the paper umbrella ghost (karakasa-obake) or ghosts with long hair wearing white clothes.
But in countries around the world, the most well-known ghosts and monsters can be quite different.
Take the opportunity of Halloween to learn the names of ghosts and monsters from various countries! You might even find some you already know.
At the end of the quiz, asking the kids how many they got right could really liven things up.
It’s a great chance to learn about the differences between Japan and the rest of the world!

Let’s align our feelings and find the answer together! Here’s an idea for a three-letter quiz.
Quizzes are often individual competitions, but the appeal of this idea is collaborating with friends to answer.
For example, a question like “What comes to mind when you think of something sweet?” might be asked.
What answer would you think of? Each person writes one letter on a piece of paper, and when your answers match, it feels like your bond grows stronger.
Give it a try at your next event! It’s also great to share hints with each other.

How about a playful twist on a classic quiz: a trick quiz? It’s especially great for getting preschoolers excited! In this quiz, you show a part of an animal or an object and have them guess what it is—but there’s a sneaky twist.
For example, you might show two long shapes that look like rabbit ears, and while the kids shout “Rabbit!”, when you reveal the hidden part, the correct answer is actually a flower—the two long shapes were parts of the petals.
It’s a slightly mischievous quiz.
Kids are so adaptable that they’ll quickly catch on to the idea and start guessing right away!

Show them the prompt and have them guess what it looks like.
A stuffed animal works well as the prompt, too.
With the call, “What do you think this is?”, the children will think hard and give lots of answers.
Once many answers are out, reveal the correct answer.
Knowing the answer will likely make the children even more excited.
There is a correct answer, but it’s also fine to treat all of their answers as correct.
Let’s use the quiz to bring out the children’s rich imaginative thinking.
