Kobukuro’s classic and popular songs

Let us introduce songs by the popular male folk duo, Kobukuro.

Renowned for their powerful vocals, the two create an exquisite harmony with their voices, delivering performances so impactful they overwhelm listeners.

Although they met and formed their duo in Osaka, an event they held until 2010 called Fan Festa took place in Wakayama, and—curiously—the headquarters of their agency, Minosuke Office Kobukuro, is also located in Wakayama.

This is because, during their indie days, they were supported by a patron who ran a game shop in Wakayama called Minosuke; that person is now the president of their current agency.

Now, please take your time and savor the supreme harmony of the two members of Kobukuro.

THIS IS MY HOMETOWNKobukuro

Kobukuro “THIS IS MY HOMETOWN”
THIS IS MY HOMETOWNKobukuro

It’s a warm song from Kobukuro, imbued with deep feelings for Osaka, where the duo was formed, and for the members’ hometowns.

The acoustic tones, reminiscent of their street-performing days, blend with the duo’s beautiful harmonies to gently envelop the listener’s heart.

The lyrics depict landscapes that remain in one’s heart even after leaving home as an adult, as well as unchanging bonds with old friends—many listeners will likely find their own memories resurfacing.

This track is included as the lead song on the mini-album “THIS IS MY HOMETOWN.” It’s a moving piece you’ll want to listen to when you want to reconnect with your roots.

It was used as the image song for NTT West’s telegram service, but because it was mainly aired in the Kansai region at the time, it wasn’t very well-known in the Kanto area.

However, around 2007—about three years after its release—it was featured in a Calbee potato chips commercial, boosting its recognition.

The song sings about the importance of memories that don’t appear in photographs.

Wings Named YouKobukuro

From the opening piano, it’s a brisk, fast-paced song that really takes off.

You get to see a rock-tinged side of Kobukuro.

The way the parts are divided—as if they’ve perfectly grasped the differences in their vocal timbres—shows true professional craftsmanship.

cherry blossomKobukuro

This is a song that also gained popularity at karaoke.

From the very first verse, the two harmonize at full throttle, showcasing Kobukuro’s signature style.

When cherry blossom petals fall, do you feel regret for what’s left undone, or hope for the season to come? It’s recommended for listeners on either side.

the red threadKobukuro

It’s a song well known even for Yui Aragaki’s cover.

The image of a red thread feels romantic, but the lyrics are very down-to-earth—so realistic you might wonder if they’re drawn from real experience.

It’s a track that resonated across Japan.

A town where it doesn’t snowKobukuro

The first Christmas night we spent together.

We talked about so many things as the snow kept falling.

Every time winter comes, I long for the warmth of another person and feel the desire to be with someone.

In the midst of that, this song brings back the fresh memory of my first Christmas with her.

Blue BirdKobukuro

A refreshing number that cheerfully starts from the chorus.

True to the title “Blue Bird,” it sings about the invisible happiness that’s close at hand yet hard to notice.

It served as the opening theme for the anime Bakuman.
