Kobukuro’s classic and popular songs

Let us introduce songs by the popular male folk duo, Kobukuro.

Renowned for their powerful vocals, the two create an exquisite harmony with their voices, delivering performances so impactful they overwhelm listeners.

Although they met and formed their duo in Osaka, an event they held until 2010 called Fan Festa took place in Wakayama, and—curiously—the headquarters of their agency, Minosuke Office Kobukuro, is also located in Wakayama.

This is because, during their indie days, they were supported by a patron who ran a game shop in Wakayama called Minosuke; that person is now the president of their current agency.

Now, please take your time and savor the supreme harmony of the two members of Kobukuro.

Kobukuro’s Classic and Popular Songs (1–10)

Starry Smile StoryNEW!Kobukuro

[Official] JR West: Move, curiosity. Toward where curiosity moves.

This is a JR West commercial that presents a range of Kansai travel plans all at once.

It highlights numerous sightseeing attractions—from entertainment and gourmet food to history—and encourages travel to Kansai with the tagline, “Follow where your curiosity leads.” The BGM for the commercial features “Starry Smile Story” by Kobukuro, a duo from Osaka.

Previously performed only at live shows, the song will be released digitally in March 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of their major-label debut.

coinKobukuro

It’s a lesser-known song, but the lyrics are incredibly moving.

When I compare the lyrics to my just-budding romance, there are parts that almost make me laugh.

It might be nice to listen to this song and look back on your first love.

hanaKobukuro

Kobukuro “hana” (Lotte Ghana commercial song)
hanaKobukuro

It’s a song that expresses the sweet-and-sour feelings of first love, used as the commercial theme for Lotte’s “Ghana.” Suzu Hirose, who appears in the music video, is truly adorable, so be sure to check it out.

It was a digital-only single, and the CD was included as a bonus with the tour merchandise.

memoryKobukuro

It’s an upbeat, high-energy track.

While looking back on the tender romances of youth with nostalgia, it also expresses those small knots of feeling that surface now and then—the sense of “If only I could have done this for you back then.” As a song from their first album, it isn’t very well-known, but it’s definitely one I’d love to hear live at least once.

Blue and gentleKobukuro

Blue skies, gentle light, and the voices of two singers ring out.

Kobukuro’s 19th single was released in November 2007 as the theme song for the Nippon TV Saturday drama “Dream☆Again.” Its lyrics, which emphasize the importance of having the courage to move forward while reflecting on the past, resonate deeply with those who keep chasing their dreams.

In the music video, the somber silhouettes of adults are contrasted with the bright expression of a boy shown at the end, evoking a sense of hope.

This work gently supports you at life’s crossroads, telling you it’s okay to pause and rest for a while.

It’s a song for everyone who continues to walk toward their dreams.

STAYKobukuro

This is a song that was chosen as the theme for the drama “The Bureaucrats’ Summer.” Although, unusually for Kobukuro, its initial sales fell below 100,000 copies and it didn’t perform well commercially, the song’s quality is in no way diminished.

The music video is crafted with a strong focus on nature, which suits the ballad’s melody beautifully.

It’s a track I highly recommend purchasing at a CD shop.

White DaysKobukuro

I think it’s a song filled with soul.

The straightforward love and words really come through.

If I could express my feelings to others this honestly, I’m sure I could change so much more.

It’s a wonderful song that makes me feel that way.

SunKobukuro

It’s an upbeat summer anthem.

The “sun” that appears in the song refers to the person he’s secretly in love with.

It’s a youthful love song about a boy who can’t be straightforward or gentle with the girl he likes—he teases her and acts awkward out of embarrassment, only to regret it later.

THIS IS MY HOMETOWNKobukuro

Kobukuro “THIS IS MY HOMETOWN”
THIS IS MY HOMETOWNKobukuro

It’s a warm song from Kobukuro, imbued with deep feelings for Osaka, where the duo was formed, and for the members’ hometowns.

The acoustic tones, reminiscent of their street-performing days, blend with the duo’s beautiful harmonies to gently envelop the listener’s heart.

The lyrics depict landscapes that remain in one’s heart even after leaving home as an adult, as well as unchanging bonds with old friends—many listeners will likely find their own memories resurfacing.

This track is included as the lead song on the mini-album “THIS IS MY HOMETOWN.” It’s a moving piece you’ll want to listen to when you want to reconnect with your roots.

Wings of the HeartKobukuro

When you’re always running at full speed, there are times when your heart gets tired.

This is a song I recommend for gently healing yourself in those moments: take a bath, forget everything, create a space just for yourself, and simply close your eyes and listen until the song ends—your heart will be reset.
