These days, many songs for both women and men are in higher keys, so there are probably many women with lower voices who feel, “I can’t find songs I can sing because my voice is low,” or “I’m looking for lower-key songs for karaoke.” Forcing yourself to sing songs that don’t suit your natural voice can hurt your throat, and it can be stressful when you can’t sing the way you want.

Swampiri

When it comes to female singers with low voices, many people probably think of iri.
However, iri is an R&B singer… Compared to pop, the difficulty is significantly higher, and most songs are hard to pull off even for low-voiced women.
That’s why I recommend her new track, “Swamp.” Since it’s crafted as alternative R&B, the vocal lines are far easier to sing than in her usual songs.
The low-register parts are still solid, so if you’re a low-voiced female singer, definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.
Somewhere in a distant town…Nagayama Miho
This is the song “Tooi Machi no Dokokade…” that Miho Nakayama, also known as Miporin, released as a singer in 1995.
The funky rhythm is really cool! Her clear, cool vocals add a great flavor to the track.
Try singing it when you go to karaoke with coworkers.
Your bosses from your dad’s generation will surely be thrilled.
Sing it powerfully and with lots of energy!
First LoveUru

This is Uru’s 10th single, released on February 10, 2021, with an advance digital release on February 8 of the same year.
I realize it’s a bit ironic to say this after introducing it under the theme “easy for women with lower voices to sing,” but this song does require high notes in the chorus using mixed voice to falsetto.
That said, the gently sung A-melody sections should allow women who are strong in the lower range to showcase their appeal.
A Midsummer Night’s DreamMatsutōya Yumi

This is Yumi Matsutoya’s 24th single, released on July 26, 1993.
It was chosen as the theme song for the sequel to the hugely popular drama “Zutto Anata ga Suki Datta,” which caused a sensation at the time with the mama’s-boy character Fuyuhiko—namely, “Dare ni mo Ienai.” Thanks in part to the drama’s popularity, the song became Matsutoya’s second million-selling hit, so many of you have probably heard it.
Despite being such a smash hit, the vocal melody mainly sits in the low to mid range, with no particularly high notes required, making it a highly recommended karaoke choice for women with lower voices.
If you imitate her singing style and really get into character as Matsutoya herself, you’re sure to have a great time singing it.
NOT NATURALShigemori Satomi

After making a name for herself on variety shows, Satomi Shigemori went on to succeed as a rapper as well.
In contrast to her ditzy variety-show persona, her songs feature strikingly sexy lyrics and music videos.
Among her works, the track I especially recommend for low-voiced women is NOT NATURAL.
The song leans heavily on melodious rap, so it doesn’t include what you’d call traditional rap sections.
Because Shigemori’s voice is high, you might think it wouldn’t suit lower female voices, but the piece is arranged within a very narrow range, which actually brings out the strengths of low-voiced female singers.
SunYorushika

Yorushika is a musical duo supported by a wide range of generations.
They have many hit songs, but among them, the new track Taiyo is especially recommended for women with lower voices.
Even within Yorushika’s catalog, this song boasts one of the narrowest vocal ranges.
As a result, it’s very easy to sing for low-voiced women who find high notes difficult.
The vocal line also has few ups and downs, making it easier to stay on pitch.
It’s great for those aiming for a high score as well, so consider adding it to your repertoire.
romantic feelingsAikawa Nanase

For women in their 40s who aren’t comfortable with high notes, Nanase Aikawa’s “Koigokoro” should be easy to sing! The overall range is fairly wide, from F3 to C#5, but if you like rock, it’s highly recommended—it’s a song you can sing with drive and emotion.
Of course, pitch is important when singing, but for a song like this, really locking into the rhythm matters too.
If you ride the rhythm, your melody line and timing will line up, and your pitch will naturally fall into place.
So rather than focusing too much on matching pitch, it’s best to prioritize staying solidly in the groove.
Also, enunciate clearly and your voice will come out confidently.
Since you’re singing, I want you to project your voice and enjoy singing comfortably!
