Kiss and FriendMy Hair is Bad

My Hair is Bad_Kiss and Friend (Hyper Home Run Tour Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall 2017/5/4)
Kiss and FriendMy Hair is Bad

This song, with lyrics that strikingly portray a man in a so-called “kept” lifestyle as the protagonist, is a track from the 2016 album “woman’s.” It features My Hair is Bad’s signature sharp guitar sound and a lively beat, making it a very pleasant listen.

The vocal range is just over one octave, relatively narrow, and the melody isn’t complex, so it should be easy to sing.

Since the contrast between the energetic sections and the quieter parts is a key characteristic, it’s best to listen closely to the original track once before giving it a try.

Carnival of Flames and ForestsSEKAI NO OWARI

SEKAI NO OWARI “Flame and Forest Carnival”
Carnival of Flames and ForestsSEKAI NO OWARI

This is the sixth major (eighth overall) single by the Japanese band SEKAI NO OWARI, released in April 2014.

It was used as the song for NTT Plala’s Hikari TV commercial.

When you listen to the original, many people may think, “I can’t sing that high!” partly because of the vocalist’s timbre.

But aside from that, the vocal melody itself doesn’t actually have large leaps or dramatic ups and downs, making it very easy to remember and sing.

It has a bright, energetic, march-like feel, and even if you lower the key, it’ll sound good if you try to sing with as bright a tone as possible.

Give it a try!

At KoenjiPEOPLE 1

PEOPLE 1 “At Koenji” (Official Video)
At KoenjiPEOPLE 1

PEOPLE 1 is a band with a retro sound that evokes 1990s Japanese punk rock.

While their core is alternative rock, they have a strong punk edge, and every release packs a punch.

Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is their new song Koenji nite.

It features an emotive, “emo” melody.

It’s a piece with very strong punk rock elements and an overall powerful feel, yet the vocal range is surprisingly narrow.

Even the high parts can be shouted rather than sung cleanly, so it’s especially recommended for men who struggle to produce a clear, clean tone.

Barefoot AdventureGadoro

GADORO – Barefoot Adventure (Prod. Kiwy)

Rapper GADORO, who draws high praise within the industry for his raw lyrics rooted in a life once buried in debt and his outstanding rap skills.

He has many classic tracks, but among them, the one I especially recommend to men as easy to sing is Hadashi no Bōken.

It’s a standout piece with masculine lyrics and a memorable melody, built throughout on highly melodic rap.

If you find the style of Ketsumeishi easy to sing, this is a must-listen.

Tokyo SNGKatori Shingo

It’s the lead track from Shingo Katori’s second album, “Tokyo SNG,” which was released on April 13, 2022.

It’s been crafted into a song where you can enjoy a very stylish, old-jazz-style arrangement and sound.

When you hear “jazz,” some people might brace themselves thinking it seems hard to sing, but there’s nothing to worry about! The vocal melody itself is very simple, and the range used isn’t very wide, so anyone should be able to enjoy singing it.

Just be careful not to sing without locking into the swinging beat, as that can ruin the vibe of the song.

Also, try to keep your singing powerful throughout.

POP STARHirai Ken

Ken Hirai – POP STAR @ Ken’s Bar 2011
POP STARHirai Ken

This is Ken Hirai’s 23rd single, released in October 2005.

Since Ken Hirai is known for his exceptional vocal ability, many people might wonder, “Is it really easy to sing?” But the song itself is an upbeat, catchy, and simple track, which makes it very easy for anyone to sing.

The melody in the chorus is also very straightforward and easy to memorize, so there’s nothing to be intimidated by there.

However, if you want to sing it in the original key like he does, you’ll need to switch properly between chest voice, falsetto, and mixed voice, so please pay close attention to your key setting.

The overall vocal range used in the song isn’t very wide, so as long as you do a proper key check in advance, you should be fine.

Also, if you’re not confident, feel free to skip the ad-lib sections—the parts without lyrics where he goes “Uh~~,” and so on.

Ruby RingTerao Akira

It was Akira Terao’s sixth single, released in February 1981.

It was a huge hit that won the 23rd Japan Record Award, so many of you probably remember it.

Compared to today’s songs, pop tunes from that era have very simple melodies without extremely high or low notes, which makes them easy to sing even for those who aren’t confident singers.

In particular, this song is sung in a calm, understated manner throughout the entire track, which is another point in its favor.

Expressing a song fully while singing in such a subdued way can actually be quite difficult—but let’s not demand that much of ourselves!
