Music Festivals in May [2026]: Outdoor Festivals and Events Summary

This open-air music festival from Toyama was named by combining the “wan” of Toyama Bay with the desire to create “the place in the prefecture that gathers the most smiles and love.” Set in Imizu City’s Kaiwomaru Park—one of the prefecture’s premier locations with views of the Shinminato Bridge, the sailing ship Kaiwomaru, and the towering Tateyama Mountain Range—local volunteers continue to hold the event to contribute to the community through music and food. A hallmark of the festival is its family-friendly focus, with nursing rooms, diaper-changing stations, and play areas for children. It will be held over two days during Golden Week in 2026.

AH1 ASIAN HIPHOP CONNECTION is a hip-hop festival that brings together rappers from Japan and across Asia. The venue is the outdoor multipurpose plaza at AICHI SKY EXPO, adjacent to Chubu Centrair International Airport, featuring a location overlooking the runway. With an ASIAN HIPHOP LIVE slot inviting artists from South Korea, Vietnam, and Taiwan, and headliners T-Pablow, ¥ellow Bucks, and GADORO, the event will feature around 40 acts and take place in May 2026.

The Kishiwada Music Festival Citizens’ Festival is a community event operated by volunteer members of the executive committee under the banner of “A citizens’ festival aimed at creating vibrancy and energy in Kishiwada.” It will be held at Kishiwada City Manabi Central Park and will feature not only music and dance stages, but also food trucks, food tents, a flea market, and PR booths. With the theme of spending a day of Golden Week enjoying the local area, it will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 9:00 to 16:00.

Tomita Jazz Street is a jazz festival that transforms the entire townscape of Tomita—known as a temple district and sake-brewing town in Takatsuki, Osaka—into a music venue. Under the grand roof of the historic Honshoji Temple, around 100 bands gather across locations such as the shopping arcade, parks, temples, and cafés, offering two days where strolling the town and live performances become one. Cherished as a sister event in conjunction with the Takatsuki Jazz Street, it will celebrate its 8th edition in May 2026.
