The ghost that is always watching me

Ghosts are scary enough on their own, but just imagining one staring at you the whole time is absolutely terrifying, right? Let’s make a spooky ghost like that and surprise lots of people.
Draw big ghostly eyes and a mouth on a toilet paper roll.
It’s easier to make just one eye, so that’s recommended.
Cut out the eye area using scissors or a craft knife.
You’ll be able to see the inside of the toilet paper roll through the eye hole, so draw the pupil there to finish.
Now set the ghost in front of you and move up, down, left, and right.
No matter where you go, its eyes will keep following you…
Ghost Cracker

Perfect for Halloween parties and the like: ghost crackers! To make the base, simply take a paper cup with the bottom removed and attach a halved balloon with vinyl tape.
Then draw ghost faces or anything you like on the cup.
Put in confetti made from finely cut origami paper or small pom-pom balls, and you’re ready to go! When you pull the balloon part, the contents pop out like a party cracker.
If you fill it with ghost illustrations or tiny ghost figurines, it will feel even spookier.
ghost lantern

Introducing a spooky lantern that startles with its faint glow in the dark! Cut a plastic bottle about one-third up from the bottom and use that section.
To avoid cutting your hands on the edge, we recommend rounding it by warming the cut edge with an iron or covering it with vinyl tape.
Wrap tracing paper around the plastic bottle and draw a ghost’s eyes, mouth, and other features.
Make holes near the top to thread a string through, and place a battery-powered candle inside the bottle.
Then just thread the string through the holes and hang it wherever you like—done! It’s also fun to make it portable like a handheld lantern.
Chochin Obake

One of Japan’s long-famous yokai, the Chochin Obake.
It’s a slightly spooky spirit that looks like a lantern with a face, often seen at festivals.
Let’s make a cute and simple Chochin Obake out of origami! Prepare a sheet of origami paper in your favorite color, then cut it in half and use one half.
The color you choose will become the bottom color of the lantern ghost, so picking a darker color will make it a bit creepier.
Fold the main lantern shape, and along the way, fold it so a little tongue sticks out.
Once the shape is formed, make accordion folds to create the lantern’s wavy texture.
Finally, draw the eyes, and use a small piece of cut paper to make the top of the lantern—then it’s done!
Fruit Net Ghost

This is a ghost craft using the fruit nets that come with apples, peaches, and other fruits.
All you need is a fruit net, construction paper to make parts like eyes and a mouth, double-sided tape to stick the parts on, and a string for hanging.
It’s super easy—just keep sticking the parts you made onto the fruit net! If cutting the parts with scissors is still a bit dangerous for your child, please have Mom or Dad help.
Once you’ve finished attaching the parts, thread a string through the gaps in the net and you’re done! Hang it wherever you like and enjoy the decoration.
Piggy bank ghost

Your precious allowance from Mom and Dad gets swallowed by a ghost! Let me introduce a unique and cute piggy bank.
We’ll make the slot for inserting money and the mechanism that “swallows” it using cardboard.
The swallowing mechanism works by creating a gear-driven mouth where you place the coin; when you turn the handle, the coin moves deeper into the piggy bank—as if it’s being swallowed.
For the tricky parts, like the gear mechanism, build them together with Mom or Dad! Once the shape is complete, feel free to draw or attach parts like the ghost’s eyes and mouth however you like.

A moving ghost toy

This is a handmade, cute ghost toy that you can move around freely.
It’s very easy to make.
First, decorate a paper cup to create the stage where the ghost will move.
Color it, draw illustrations, and finish it off with stickers if you like.
Next, cut out a ghost from construction paper.
Attach magnets to both a wooden spatula and the ghost.
Make sure to check the orientation of the magnets’ north and south poles so they don’t repel each other.
Once the ghost and the spatula stick together with the paper cup in between, your ghost is ready to fly freely around the world of the paper cup.
It’s also safe to make since it doesn’t involve any cutting with blades.
