In 2018, its 100th anniversary year, the song “Akarui National” that played in the commercial titled “The Return of National Boy” was composed by Toriro Miki, a prolific creator of commercial jingles, and it was beloved for many years starting in the 1950s.

The word “National” itself conveys a sense of reassurance.

The concept behind it—“A bright, happy home powered by electric appliances”—is wonderful, and together with the commercial footage featuring the character “National Boy,” the glamorous, globe-trotting sound instantly lifts your spirits.
