Beach sprint

If you want an easy game to enjoy at the beach, “Sandy Sprint” is a great pick! You don’t need any equipment—just decide on a start and finish line, and then run! It sounds simple, but running on sand is trickier than you’d expect.
Unlike firm ground, your push-off doesn’t spring back, and some people might lose balance as their feet sink into the sand.
But those little mishaps become fun memories too! Line up with a few people and compete for time or placement.
Beach wrestling

A form of wrestling held on the beach, this is a relatively new beach sport.
It’s played one-on-one inside a 3-meter radius circle on the sand, so you don’t need a large group to enjoy it.
As in regular wrestling, you lose if both your shoulders touch the ground, if you push your opponent’s feet out of bounds twice, or if you throw them out of the ring.
At a glance, it can look like sumo on the beach.
Since it doesn’t require any special equipment, why not give it a try casually?
Dodgebee

How about trying a light and soft “Dodgebee” on the beach? It’s a classic indoor game, but playing it on a seaside shore with an ocean view feels wonderfully open and refreshing.
Since you throw the disc-shaped Dodgebee, choose a spacious area with few people.
Also, be careful not to throw it toward the sea by mistake.
You can simply toss it back and forth with two people, or set up a court and play a team match to make it more exciting! You can buy a Dodgebee itself from online shops, so feel free to check it out.
Mölkky

I also recommend Mölkky, which is fun for its strategic play.
Mölkky is a sport that originated in Finland.
The basic rule is to throw a wooden baton at numbered pins, and the first to reach a total of 50 points from the numbers on the pins they knock down wins.
The fun part is having to think strategically about which pins to topple.
It’s sure to be exciting if you split into teams with family or friends.
By the way, if you’re playing on the beach, slightly burying the pins makes them easier to stand up.
Snorkeling

If you’re going to play at the beach in summer, snorkeling is a great choice.
Swimming out into the open sea with just a pair of goggles feels liberating and wonderful.
If you’re a strong swimmer, you can even dive down as you are.
Try different ways to enjoy yourself—look for sea creatures, or simply let yourself drift with the waves.
WaveRunner ball

For some reason, the ball bounces on water! That’s the kind of mysterious experience you can have with this Wave Runner Ball.
Even beach balls that you often play with at the pool or the ocean don’t bounce on water.
But if you throw this Wave Runner Ball hard at the water, it actually bounces.
The ball itself is made from a soft material, so kids can play with it safely.
Try making it bounce and fly to different places, or compete to see how high it can bounce—enjoy all sorts of games that are different from a regular beach ball!
Beach tennis

Beach tennis is a sport that combines elements of beach volleyball and tennis.
Because the court is sand, it’s hard to let the ball bounce, so players rally without any bounces and compete for points.
In Japan, it might feel somewhat similar to the traditional game of hanetsuki.
Instead of a racket, players use a dedicated paddle-like piece of equipment called a paddle.
It can be enjoyed casually as a leisure activity, but since there is an organization called the Japan Beach Tennis Federation, those aiming to go pro might consider registering as a player.
