A timeless masterpiece that lets you feel the cosmos. A space-themed song filled with dreams and love, evoking starry skies and galaxies.

What kind of music do you think of when you hear “space”? If we limit ourselves to just the word “space,” the scope might feel narrow, but there are songs that capture it from many angles—like the moon and the stars.

This is a playlist packed with theme songs from TV anime and films that use space as a motif, as well as masterpieces that feature planets, stars, and the moon in their titles.

While researching, I was surprised to find that many space-themed songs are essentially love songs.

How romantic.

Please enjoy a generous selection of space songs that brim with dreams and hope, and overflow with love for that special someone!

Many fans praise its beautiful lyrics—sung with a clear, translucent voice—as “so heartrending that words can’t describe it.” Released in November 2009 as her 30th single, the song was also featured in a TV commercial for the housing information service Housemate.

The lyrics, carried by a gentle, warm melody, are sure to resonate deeply with those in long-distance relationships.

The theme song for NHK’s drama “Blanket Cats.” Akiko Yano, who says she loves space herself, wrote the song from the perspective of an astronaut seeing off a crewmate returning from space to Earth after their stay.

The gentle piano melody and Yano’s soft, warm voice match exquisitely, making it very pleasant to the ear.

Romeo Cosmic PicnicTHE ALFEE

This is a grand picnic song set in space, included on THE ALFEE’s classic album “GLINT BEAT,” released in September 2001.

Some of you may remember that the album reached No.

5 on the Oricon weekly chart.

The lyrical world, crafted by Toshihiko Takamizawa and lyricist Yukinojo Mori, is uniquely charming—heading out to the edge of the universe on a sparkling airship for a picnic.

The song captures the protagonist’s excitement for a futuristic date with their loved one through a floating melody and dramatic song structure.

With their signature rock foundation layered with diverse sounds, the cyber-pop vibe really lifts your spirits.

It’s a perfect track not only for a picnic under blue skies, but also as a great companion for a drive.

GALAXYRIP SLYME

It’s included on the 9th single and the album MASTERPIECE.

It likens a man and woman’s blazing romance to a universe for just the two of them, and the image of a glittering galaxy with twinkling stars is directly reflected in the song.

In the face of their love, the voices around them don’t matter, and it seems they can see no one but each other.

A narrow universe, this wide planetMEGA SHINNOSUKE

A buzzworthy young creator born in 2000 who’s also gaining attention for providing songs, Mega Shinnosuke released this track in 2018.

It’s included on his first EP, “HONNE.” The way the sound kicks in—seamlessly shifting from the choppy strumming of the guitar—fills you with excitement.

Its worldview is fresh, highlighting the vastness of the world in contrast to the vastness of space.

The guitar’s tone is truly stylish, and paired with the friendly melody, it feels romantic.

It makes you want to dive into a world you’ve never seen before!
