It won the Grand Prix at the 2nd World Popular Song Festival hosted by the Yamaha Music Foundation.

Released in August 1996, the song gained attention as the theme for the TBS drama “Glass Fragments.” It topped the Oricon charts and became a major hit, remaining on the chart for 22 weeks.

A singer-songwriter who has established a one-of-a-kind world with her distinctly unique style, Chiaki Mayumura released this track in 2018 during her indie era, from the album “Three Droplets from the Outer Corners of My Eyes, Return.” It’s packed with various elements, the lyrics are cryptic and chaotic, yet you find yourself drawn in deeper and deeper.
Perhaps that, too, is a method of expressing the cosmos.
The combination of her innocent charm with an unusual, sultry mood and a solid edge is downright cool.

This is “Ryūsei no Saddle” by Japan’s funky Toshinobu Kubota.
