Lovely music

A timeless masterpiece that lets you feel the cosmos. A space-themed song filled with dreams and love, evoking starry skies and galaxies.

What kind of music do you think of when you hear “space”? If we limit ourselves to just the word “space,” the scope might feel narrow, but there are songs that capture it from many angles—like the moon and the stars.

This is a playlist packed with theme songs from TV anime and films that use space as a motif, as well as masterpieces that feature planets, stars, and the moon in their titles.

While researching, I was surprised to find that many space-themed songs are essentially love songs.

How romantic.

Please enjoy a generous selection of space songs that brim with dreams and hope, and overflow with love for that special someone!

A 1981 technopop song with childlike vocals.

It expresses the feelings of a funky grandson who adores his family’s prized computer-savvy grandma—an intellectual, active woman born in the Meiji era, erudite and fluent in English, who straddles the world and dreams of space travel.

This is “Planetarium,” the theme song of Boys Over Flowers, which took the world by storm.

It’s a sweet and heartrending song that sings of feelings for “you,” who can no longer be reached, directed at the sky we once gazed at together.

Ai Otsuka’s expansive yet sweet vocals distill a deep sense of “loneliness” and “frustration” at no longer being able to see you.

It has a power that draws listeners in.

From his days in Flipper’s Guitar through his solo career, Kenji Ozawa—aka Ozaken—has continued to produce numerous masterpieces, building a brilliant legacy.

Titled “Comet,” this track is as funky and ultra-catchy as ever, carrying a message that the very days and everyday life unfolding before us are themselves the universe.

In true Ozaken fashion, it’s a colorful, pop-infused, euphoric anthem on a grand scale that sings of the sheer cosmic miracle of human birth and existence.

It’s ‘Hoshifuru Yoru ni,’ a collaboration between Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and Hiroto Kōmoto! With a light, comfortable ska rhythm, a ruggedly romantic melody, and Kōmoto’s emotive vocals.

This work is presented by the virtual singer, Akiro.

Set against the backdrop of the cosmos and the stars, it delicately portrays loneliness and hope.

The crystalline vocals and beautiful melodies blend together to deeply resonate with listeners.

It was released early on December 29, 2024, and is included on the second album, “ray of hope.” Written and composed by Akita Horie, the song symbolizes the album’s theme of “light.” The lyrics, where transience and eternity, warmth and solitude intersect, remind us of the preciousness of every moment in life and our connections with others.

It’s a moving track you’ll want to listen to alone on a quiet night.

There is love in the vast universe.Mōningu Musume.

A vast, cosmic kind of love sung on a grand scale.

The cute, straightforward charm of Morning Musume’s vocals really hits you in the chest.

With samba-like rhythms and funky guitar, it strikes a perfect balance—never too sentimental—and gives you a real boost.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe in things you can’t see, but this feels like a song that supports you at those times.

It was the B-side to “The Peace!” released in 2001, and it resonates even more now, in an era where the obvious is no longer guaranteed.

The playful chaos is part of the fun, too! It feels like it could blow all your worries away.
