Lovely music

A timeless masterpiece that lets you feel the cosmos. A space-themed song filled with dreams and love, evoking starry skies and galaxies.

What kind of music do you think of when you hear “space”? If we limit ourselves to just the word “space,” the scope might feel narrow, but there are songs that capture it from many angles—like the moon and the stars.

This is a playlist packed with theme songs from TV anime and films that use space as a motif, as well as masterpieces that feature planets, stars, and the moon in their titles.

While researching, I was surprised to find that many space-themed songs are essentially love songs.

How romantic.

Please enjoy a generous selection of space songs that brim with dreams and hope, and overflow with love for that special someone!

Sora-buneTOKIO

Sora-fune (Sky Ship) – TOKIO (Full)
Sora-buneTOKIO

Sora Fune (Ship in the Sky), composed by Miyuki Nakajima.

I think it’s a song that questions the way society is and the way we ourselves should be.

TOKIO belts it out with a gritty, masculine rawness, giving voice to the search for where one’s identity lies.

It’s the kind of song that reignites your own ambitions.

“Ryusei (Shooting Star)” by Kobukuro is a song that always touches the heart.

It’s a love ballad that fully expresses love by comparing its shape to stars positioned in the same constellation.

The duo’s expansive, powerful vocals convey the strength of a love that draws two people together as if by gravity.

This is “Gekkouka,” the opening theme of the anime Black Jack.

The catchy intro features a rich orchestral phrase, followed by a wistful piano arpeggio, and yasu’s clear yet powerful vocals draw you deeper and deeper into the world Janne Da Arc creates.

XG – IYKYK (Official Music Video)
IYKYKXG

This track, themed around space exploration, symbolizes XG’s push beyond their limits.

It’s a rhythmic dance number that samples m-flo’s 2001 hit “Prism,” featuring striking phrases that evoke speed and freedom.

Released in October 2024 as an advance single from their 2nd mini-album “AWE,” the music video portrays a world where each member’s senses are distorted in an otherworldly way, showcasing the evolution of XG’s unique, mystical style.

The song’s energy invites listeners on a thrilling, surreal adventure.

It’s recommended for those who long for a free-spirited journey beyond the constraints of reality and for anyone who cherishes bonds with their companions.

Lamp starharuka nakamura + suis from Yorushika

You’re drawn into its delicate, lyrical sound.

It’s a collaboration between composer haruka nakamura and suis, the vocalist of Yorushika.

The song was written as the theme for the film “Kono Natsu no Hoshi o Miru,” set to be released in July 2025.

suis’s crystalline voice gently accompanies the quiet, beautiful piano melodies woven by haruka nakamura, creating an immersive feeling as if you were inside a planetarium.

The story—tinged with the ache of an irretrievable past and the discovery of a small light of hope in the darkness—perfectly matches the film’s worldview.

Listen, and you’ll find yourself forgetting the daily bustle and quietly looking up at the night sky.

The universe is a big deal!Matsutani Yūko

Urusei Yatsura, a popular anime featuring adorable aliens.

Its ending theme, which is also Yuko Matsutani’s debut single, is “Space Is So Strange!” Using the title phrase, the song captures both the mysteries of the universe and a buoyant, excited feeling.

While the city-pop-tinged, cool and breezy sound gives a chic impression, the sampled lines and lyrics create a lively atmosphere.

That contrast is irresistible.

Child of the 21st Century UniverseToukyou Jihen

A special band of top-tier musicians, Tokyo Jihen included this track on their 2011 album Discovery.

It’s a song completed by combining Kameda’s melodic bass line with ideas from Ichiyo Izawa.

The fresh, mischievous mood of “Child of the 21st Century Universe” brings back youthful feelings and gives you energy! Beyond Shiina Ringo’s vocals, the driving bass and bright guitar riffs and cutting make your heart dance.

While it doesn’t depict a concrete space-themed world, it’s a motivational song that makes you realize the joy of pioneering the unknown.
