X JAPAN’s classic and popular songs (41–50)

X JAPAN – Dear Loser / Vanishing Love (Tokyo Dome 1992.01.06)
Vanshing LoveX JAPAN

This is a work from X JAPAN’s indie days before their major-label debut.

It’s a hard, up-tempo number from X JAPAN’s heyday, with a story-like progression that’s captivating.

A melodious melody line, a clean-lined guitar solo, backing that doesn’t interfere with the vocals, and drumming with intense playing.

This is X JAPAN.

White Poem IX JAPAN

At first it might feel like someone else’s song, but it’s definitely an X JAPAN track.

They’ve even performed it live.

Unusually for the band, it’s a song made almost entirely with programming.

I feel like it reveals an unexpected side of YOSHIKI, and perhaps it influenced his compositions from this point on.

X JAPAN MedleyX JAPAN

The hit songs that captivated many as a visual kei rock band have been reborn as a piano medley.

While the tunes retain their rock essence, the piano arrangements transform them into pieces that are not only fresh but also exceptionally pleasant to listen to.

X Japan – Born To Be Free (2015 ver) with lyrics
BoneX JAPAN

Lately, I feel like X JAPAN has been putting out more subdued songs.

This track is plenty cool, but I haven’t heard the kind of relentless, sharp-edged songs like before recently.

That said, the compositions are more polished now, and this song falls into that category.

20th CENTURY BOYX JAPAN

20th CENTURY BOY (Live Take) (Remaster)
20th CENTURY BOYX JAPAN

X JAPAN’s “20th CENTURY BOY” is a sharp-edged cover that evokes T.

Rex’s original.

YOSHIKI’s dramatic drumming and Toshi’s powerful vocals brilliantly revive the soul of ’70s rock ’n’ roll.

It’s no surprise the track was included on the live album “X SINGLES” and became a fan favorite at X JAPAN’s shows.

The lyrics’ message—wanting to be a “boy of the 20th century,” brimming with freedom and defiance—cuts straight to the listener’s heart.

It’s a fierce X JAPAN-style cover tune that every rock lover should hear.

Forever LoveX JAPAN

I think this song can rightly be called one of X Japan’s signature tracks.

When you listen while reflecting on X Japan’s history—overcoming many hardships such as the death of members and the brainwashing scandal involving vocalist Toshi—the word “Forever” in the title feels profoundly meaningful.

Even putting that aside, it’s simply a wonderful song that can lift your spirits.

It might be disrespectful to fans if you use it as a gag, but since it’s a song everyone knows, it’s surprisingly easy to turn into a bit and I actually recommend it.

You can go wild and dance like crazy to the intense moves, or even use it for a one-shot performance trick.
