[Age 3] Easy Origami Snowman: Steps 1–10
A snowman with a cute scarf

The scarf is so cute! Let me show you how to make an origami snowman.
Prepare one sheet of white origami paper and one sheet that’s a quarter size.
First, make the snowman with the white paper.
Use the octopus fold method.
Fold the folded corner up to the top corner, then fold it down to just short of the bottom edge.
Lightly fold in both corners of the folded-down section, and the snowman body is done.
Next, let’s make the scarf.
Cut the quarter-size paper in half diagonally into a triangle, then fold the tip of the triangle down to the edge so the colored side shows.
Insert it into the turned-down section of the snowman with the folded edge facing up, then fold the edge down.
Use the remaining half of the paper to fold a bucket-shaped hat and insert it on the snowman’s head to finish! Draw any face you like with a pen.
Triple snowman made from a single sheet of origami paper

You can make a chain of three snowmen with just one sheet of origami paper! First, fold the paper into a triangle twice to make crease lines.
Fold the front corner and the opposite corner toward the center.
Flip it over, then fold both sides up to the center so that the corners stick out.
Fold the protruding corners in to meet the center.
Turn it vertically, fold the top and bottom corners to the center, then fold further to the overlapping corner on the other side to make a crease.
Flip it over and fold the center line down to align with the second line from the top.
Flip it again, fold the top corner down along the first line, and tuck the corner inside.
Flip it once more, rotate it 90 degrees, and round the three stacked corners to create curved shapes.
Finally, draw the faces with a pen, and you’re done!
Self-standing snowman

Stands up on its own! Here’s a cute origami snowman.
First, make the face.
Take a quarter-size sheet of origami paper with the front side up and fold it using the zabuton (cushion) method.
Fold three corners in slightly, and fold one corner all the way to the center.
Next, make the scarf with another quarter-size sheet.
With the front side facing out, fold it horizontally four times.
Take a half-size sheet, front side up, and fold it into a square twice to make crease lines.
Fold each corner to meet the front crease line, then fold both corners to align with the edges.
Make inside reverse folds on both sides of the center line.
Round the corners to shape the body, and fold it in half along the center to complete the body.
Make a hat as well, and decorate each part with round stickers.
Glue or stick the parts together to finish!

A snowman whose face moves

The face moves side to side! Here’s how to make a cute origami snowman.
First, fold into a triangle twice, then open it once.
Fold both left and right corners up to the center crease.
Next, fold down the top layer on both sides toward the bottom point, then unfold.
Fold the remaining corners to form the snowman’s head, leaving the previously folded-down sections visible.
Now for the body.
First, fold it into a boat shape so that the white part shows, and fold down the two corners.
Flip it over so the boat shape faces you, then squash the left and right corners to form the legs and adjust the shape.
Align the opposite corner with the inner line and cut up to the front line.
Shape it to look like hands.
Place the head over the body, and you’re done! Make a hat and draw the face with a pen, too.
A snowman you can fold in 5 minutes

Perfect for winter! Here’s a cute origami snowman.
First, take one half of a sheet of origami paper and fold it in half both vertically and horizontally to make creases.
With the paper positioned vertically, fold the top two corners in to meet the center line.
Fold the opposite edge to the center line, make a crease, then fold the front edge up and down about 1 cm to create a flap.
Next, fold both sides in to meet the center line, then squash-fold so that the four spots around the center form triangles.
Round the corners of the head and body by folding them slightly to create a snowman shape.
Finally, draw the face with a pen, and you’re done!
Snowman with a slanted hat

Great for wall displays! Here’s how to fold a snowman wearing a slightly tilted hat using just one sheet of origami paper.
First, place the colored side up and fold using the “Kannon” base.
With the shorter edge facing you, make crease lines by dividing it into four equal sections.
On the side with the creases, fold both edges twice to create additional creases.
Fold up along the bottom center line, then fold back down along the line just below it.
Next, fold the corner on the creased side so it meets the point where the horizontal and vertical lines intersect, and slightly fold both corners.
Then, on the opposite side, fold both corners toward the center to form the hat.
Have an adult help with the trickier steps.
Finally, draw the face with round stickers or a pen, and you’re done!
Snowman ornament

Simple and cute! Here’s how to fold an origami snowman ornament.
First, place the origami paper color-side down and fold it in half to make a crease.
Turn the crease vertical, fold the right side to the center, then fold the bottom edge up to the center.
Flip it over and fold the corner where the creases intersect to the center to make a crease.
Flip it back and fold that corner up to the front guideline.
Flatten it so the folded corner doesn’t open.
Flip it over, fold both sides along the line of the folded corner, and fold up the bottom corner to make a crease.
Fold the bottom corner up to the center to crease it, then fold it up to the top corner.
Fold so that both side edges tuck into the hat.
Finally, make a scarf and draw the face with a pen—done!
