[For 3-year-olds] Easy snowman origami (how to make)
When it gets cold, kids spend more time playing indoors, don’t they?
Playing house or reading picture books is fun, but how about enjoying origami with the children?
In this article, we’re introducing a snowman origami design that’s perfect for three-year-olds.
Once they learn it, there are plenty of steps they can do on their own, so be sure to try making it together.
Make the scarf and hat colorful, give the snowmen different expressions, and display them around the room—they’ll look super cute!
Since they’re three years old, it’s okay if the folds aren’t perfectly precise.
Let’s value their sense of satisfaction and accomplishment from folding it themselves.

Snowman made with two sheets of origami paper
https://www.tiktok.com/@poyomi_art/video/7321694435836808449Let’s make it with two sheets of origami! Here’s a snowman folding method recommended for 3-year-olds.
First, take the first sheet, fold it in half twice to make a square, then fold all four corners toward the center.
Next, slightly fold the corners again to round them.
For the second sheet, fold it using the kite/base (tako) fold, then fold the white part up along the edge.
Fold the opposite corner up to the edge, aligning it with the center line.
Slightly fold the corners to shape the body.
Finally, glue or tape the first and second pieces together and draw the face with a pen to finish!
A snowman whose face moves

The face moves side to side! Here’s how to make a cute origami snowman.
First, fold into a triangle twice, then open it once.
Fold both left and right corners up to the center crease.
Next, fold down the top layer on both sides toward the bottom point, then unfold.
Fold the remaining corners to form the snowman’s head, leaving the previously folded-down sections visible.
Now for the body.
First, fold it into a boat shape so that the white part shows, and fold down the two corners.
Flip it over so the boat shape faces you, then squash the left and right corners to form the legs and adjust the shape.
Align the opposite corner with the inner line and cut up to the front line.
Shape it to look like hands.
Place the head over the body, and you’re done! Make a hat and draw the face with a pen, too.
A snowman you can make in 3 minutes

Make it with a single sheet of origami! Here’s how to fold a cute snowman.
With the colored side up, fold the paper into a triangle twice to crease it, then fold the three corners in to meet the center line.
Flip it over, fold the bottom edge up to just before the center line, then unfold only the corners.
Rotate the paper 90 degrees, and fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
Fold the top layer down along the edge you just made.
Flip it over again, and fold the left and right edges so they stick out just a little past the center line.
Squash-fold the four inner corners.
Slightly round the corners by folding them a bit to give a snowman-like shape.
Finally, draw the face and a scarf with a pen, and you’re done!

A snowman with a cute scarf

The scarf is so cute! Let me show you how to make an origami snowman.
Prepare one sheet of white origami paper and one sheet that’s a quarter size.
First, make the snowman with the white paper.
Use the octopus fold method.
Fold the folded corner up to the top corner, then fold it down to just short of the bottom edge.
Lightly fold in both corners of the folded-down section, and the snowman body is done.
Next, let’s make the scarf.
Cut the quarter-size paper in half diagonally into a triangle, then fold the tip of the triangle down to the edge so the colored side shows.
Insert it into the turned-down section of the snowman with the folded edge facing up, then fold the edge down.
Use the remaining half of the paper to fold a bucket-shaped hat and insert it on the snowman’s head to finish! Draw any face you like with a pen.
Triple snowman made from a single sheet of origami paper

You can make a chain of three snowmen with just one sheet of origami paper! First, fold the paper into a triangle twice to make crease lines.
Fold the front corner and the opposite corner toward the center.
Flip it over, then fold both sides up to the center so that the corners stick out.
Fold the protruding corners in to meet the center.
Turn it vertically, fold the top and bottom corners to the center, then fold further to the overlapping corner on the other side to make a crease.
Flip it over and fold the center line down to align with the second line from the top.
Flip it again, fold the top corner down along the first line, and tuck the corner inside.
Flip it once more, rotate it 90 degrees, and round the three stacked corners to create curved shapes.
Finally, draw the faces with a pen, and you’re done!
pointy snowman
The pointed shape is so cute! Here’s how to fold a stand-up snowman you can display.
First, fold into a triangle twice to make crease lines.
Fold the bottom corner up to the center to crease, then roll it up twice, matching the corner to the front crease each time.
Flip it over and fold the top corner down to the bottom edge, then crease by folding the left and right edges to align with the triangle’s edges.
Flip it back, unfold the colored section once, and fold the left and right corners up diagonally so they meet the ends of the front crease.
Fold the bottom section up along the front line, flip it over, and alternately fold the top and bottom corners to match the slanted lines on the left and right.
Flip it over and draw the snowman’s face and scarf on the center triangular area.
Finally, tuck the two bottom corners into the triangular creases, and you’re done!
A cute-shaped snowman

Fun for 3-year-olds too! Here’s an origami snowman that’s perfect for winter.
You can make it with just one sheet of origami paper.
First, fold the paper into a square base.
After making three crease lines, open it up and squash-fold it into a diamond shape.
Next, align the inner bottom edges to the center and squash-fold as you fold upward.
Slightly fold the left, right, and bottom corners to give it a snowman-like shape.
Fold the top corner down, then fold it back to its original direction and flip it over.
Fold the center corner down and tuck the tip inside.
Finally, draw a face with a pen, and you’re done!
